The rooms – well, mine was on the second floor – have these gorgeous original details like exposed beams and thick walls that actually keep the noise down (crucial when you’re this close to the university district). The furnishings feel deliberately chosen rather than bulk-ordered, if that makes sense. I particularly loved the bathroom setup – proper water pressure, which isn’t always a given in these historic buildings, and they’d stocked it with locally-made toiletries that actually smelled amazing. The Wi-Fi was solid too, which matters when you’re trying to research dinner spots or upload photos. Staff-wise, the front desk team clearly knows their neighborhood – they pointed me toward this incredible tortellini place on Via del Pratello that I never would’ve found otherwise, and when I mentioned wanting to check out the markets, they told me exactly which days Mercato di Mezzo has the best selection.

Here’s the thing about staying here – you’re positioned perfectly to experience Bologna like someone who actually lives there. It’s maybe a seven-minute walk to Piazza Maggiore, but you’re far enough from the main tourist drag that you’ll stumble onto aperitivo spots where you might be the only non-Italian in the room. The location puts you right in the heart of the university quarter, so there’s this great energy in the evenings, but it quiets down by around 11 PM. Parking can be tricky (like everywhere in Bologna’s center), but they have arrangements with a garage about two blocks away. I’d definitely book this place again – it’s got that rare quality where you feel like you’re staying somewhere special without paying resort prices, and the 8.5 rating feels spot-on. Not perfect, but the imperfections are the charming kind that come with authentic local character rather than corporate shortcuts.

  What could be improved: Trying to check in to get the code- absolute nightmare. The link didn’t easily accept documents to get the code then there was no communication from the agency managing the apartment as it was a public holiday. Then the code eventually came through after 1.5 hour of battling with the link then the next day they still needed a photo of the ID as it hadn’t worked in any case. Much easier to send a photo of ID on WhatsApp like every other accommodation asks.

  Well-designed, picturesque apartment. Small balcony was delightful, as were the spacious bathroom and the dedicated workspace. Light and airy, with a cross breeze. Can’t beat the location.
  
  What could be improved: It’s in the description but it doesn’t hurt to say again: this apartment is in a historical neighborhood and like many, it’s inaccessible and a challenge for anyone with mobility issues. It’s on the third floor (fourth floor, for North Americans), and there are steps inside the apartment as well.

  A very well-furnished apartment with everything you need for a few-day stay. Great location. Easy check-in and pick-up of the key from the safe. I highly recommend!
