This place sits right at Via Capo di Lucca 1, which sounds fancy but it’s actually this really liveable neighborhood that feels more like where actual Bolognesi hang out, you know? The building itself has that understated Italian elegance thing going on – not flashy, but when you walk in there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about design here. The lobby smells faintly of that good Italian coffee and there’s usually some soft jazz playing that doesn’t make you want to immediately find the volume control.

What really got me was how the staff just… knows stuff. Like, when I asked about getting to Piazza Maggiore, the guy at the desk didn’t just point me toward the obvious tourist route – he told me about this little shortcut through Via del Borgo that cuts five minutes off the walk and takes you past this incredible salumeria where locals actually shop. The rooms are genuinely smart (hence the name, I guess) with these touch panels that control everything, but not in that overwhelming tech-bro way. More like someone figured out how to make a hotel room actually respond to what you need. The bed was one of those that makes you question your mattress choices at home, and the shower – well, let’s just say Italian hotel showers can be hit or miss, but this one actually delivers proper water pressure.

The neighborhood itself is what sold me on coming back though. You’re about a fifteen-minute walk from all the main sights, but Via Capo di Lucca feels like real Bologna. There’s this osteria called Da Cesari just around the corner that doesn’t even have a proper sign – locals pack it every lunch, and the ragu is exactly what you came to Bologna for. Mornings, you’ll hear the actual rhythm of the city waking up rather than tour groups assembling, which honestly made me sleep better. The 9.1 rating makes total sense when you experience it – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but everything just works the way it should. Even little things like the key cards actually opening doors on the first try and the wifi not cutting out every twenty minutes. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re staying somewhere that gets Bologna rather than just being in Bologna, this is your spot.

  Large, comfortable flat in a perfect location in Bologna. Well-equipped, good wifi, clean.
  
  What could be improved: It was graduation time, so lots of loud partying going on. One bedroom faces the main street so it was kind of loud, nothing to bad, we had ear plugs, but something to note if you're a light sleeper.

  Location physically was excellent. Walkable to piazza maggiore, university district, san stefano etc. Many bars and restaurants right outside the door. Apartment very well equipped, beautifully furnished, spacious and clean. Beds large and comfortable. Two bathrooms.
  
  What could be improved: Due to its location in a popular bar/ restaurant area it is very noisy at night, especially in the front bedroom and living room. Bar across road closes at 03.30 and is loud.
  The air conditioning, although quiet, did not reduce below 24 degrees. Opening the windows let in noise and mosquitoes.

  Great location, apartment was very clean and comfortable. Host was great to deal with, I left an item in the apartment and they went above and beyond to return the item to me. Would highly recommend for a visit to Bologna!

  The communication was great and the keys were very easy to find. It was in a great location and was a very comfortable place for 5 of us to stay, especially with the air con in the middle of summer. Plus free wifi and comfortable beds. A well equipped kitchen too.
  
  What could be improved: It would have been nice to have some washing powder and washing up liquid to use. Travelling from Australia it’s nice to arrive somewhere that supplies the basics so we dont have to buy them and carry them from place to place. Also – I requested that one of the rooms have 2 single beds rather than a double but when I arrived it was a double. Not a big deal – but would have been good if my kids got to sleep in separate beds instead of sharing.
  I also couldn’t get on Netflix so couldn’t watch any TV in English.
  Otherwise – it was a great place to stay and I would stay there again.
