It’s tucked away on Via Polese, just a few minutes from the heart of Bologna, but feels wonderfully removed from the tourist crowds. Honestly, the location is pretty much perfect for exploring Bologna’s centro storico. You’re close enough to walk to Piazza Maggiore in about ten minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the noise and chaos that comes with staying right in the thick of things. I found myself wandering through the narrow medieval streets each morning, discovering little cafés and shops that most tourists never stumble upon. The area feels authentically Bolognese — locals going about their daily routines, kids playing in small piazzas, that sort of thing.

The Space

What struck me most about this four-star property is how they’ve managed to create something that feels more like staying in a beautifully designed private home than a typical hotel. Each apartment has its own character, but they all share this modern Italian aesthetic that somehow doesn’t feel cold or sterile. The kitchen in my unit was actually functional — not just for show — which meant I could grab fresh ingredients from the local market and prepare simple meals when I didn’t feel like dining out every night.

What Makes It Special

You know what really sets Casa Polese apart? It’s the attention to small details that make a difference when you’re traveling. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building, and there’s this sense that someone really thought about how people actually live and move through a space. The room I stayed in had these wonderful high ceilings and original architectural details that reminded me why Bologna is such a beautiful city to begin with. Plus, having your own space means you can spread out a bit — something you really appreciate after a few days of sightseeing.

  La ubicación, la limpieza, el espacio que había, en resumidas palabras un sitio magnífico donde dormir.
  
  What could be improved: La poca atención por parte de los propietarios. Es todo muy robotizado y por teléfono, pero es lo que tiene los sitios asi al fin y al cabo.
  Ademas, es una planta baja por lo que se escucha perfectamente si pasa alguien andando y hablando cerca de la puerta

  Location, walking distance to railway station (useful for day trips to nearby cities like Modena or Ferrara) and equally close to city centre, night life noises in limits of tolerance, general safety, approachable hosts (quick reaction).
  
  What could be improved: Bialetti coffee maker could not be used as too light/not heavy enough on induction hub, anything heavier made it work. Lack of kitchen towel to dry cutlery, plates and bowls.
