You know what caught me off guard about HC3 Hotel? The location actually works in your favor, even though it’s not smack in the centro storico like every other tourist trap. Via Dell’Arcoveggio might sound like a mouthful, but it’s this quiet residential street that gives you a real taste of how Bologna actually lives – I mean, you’ve got locals walking their dogs in the morning and the smell of fresh bread from the panetteria down the block.

The hotel itself feels refreshingly unpretentious for a 4-star place. When I walked in, the lobby had this modern-meets-industrial vibe that didn’t try too hard, if that makes sense. The staff genuinely seemed to care about helping rather than just going through the motions – they pointed me toward this little osteria about ten minutes away that I never would’ve found otherwise. Honestly, being slightly outside the tourist bubble means you’re actually closer to where Bolognesi eat and hang out. The rooms are clean and well-thought-out, nothing fancy but everything works properly (which, let’s be real, isn’t always a given in Italian hotels). The beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the pillows all night, and the bathrooms are modern without being sterile.

Here’s the thing about this location – you’re maybe a 15-minute walk to Piazza Maggiore, but you’re also right near the train station, which is clutch if you’re doing day trips to Florence or Venice. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after dinner, so you’ll actually sleep well, but it’s not dead quiet – there’s still life happening around you. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this area, but the hotel staff knows the tricks. I’d definitely stay here again, especially since the 8.1 rating feels about right – it’s solid, reliable, and gives you that authentic Bologna experience without the premium you’d pay for staying right in the thick of things.

  What could be improved: The breakfast personnel started to shout loudly at 6.30 am and to make significant noise with pots and cutlery. It was just impossible not be awaken. This lasted for half an hour. An easy solution would be to add a glass door to the breakfast room or simply be quieter

  Very comfortable Business Hotel, friendly Staff, good Breakfast buffet, underground parking garage for motorcycle.
  The hotel has a bus-stop right in front, so getting downtown is easy.

  The hotel was very pleasant and the room clean, spacious and in a good shape. Staff was helpful and friendly,
  and there were nice amenities available. (One could use the dining room coffee machine throughout the day; there was a small gym, etc.) Also, the surroundings are peaceful and quiet and there is a supermarket nearby. The breakfast was nice, although probably not to everyone's liking. There is a bus stop very close to the hotel.
  
  What could be improved: The distance from the city center is quite large and it is advisable to use bus or taxi to reach it.
  A good thing is that the bus stop is nearby, although the frequency of departures is not very high.
  Also, the hotel is not exactly cheap. (Not too pricey either, however.)

  Reception staff were excellent. Bed was huge and comfy. Room was clean. Hotel modern.
  
  What could be improved: Restaurant staff let the venue down. Waitress told me fruit compote was ‘finito’ one hour before restaurant closed because she couldn’t be bothered to get any more out of the freezer. No milk served with my tea. No salt available on the tables.
