You know what struck me first about Ginevra Suite? The location is absolutely killer – and I mean that in the best way possible. Via Altabella is this narrow medieval street that feels like a secret passageway right in Bologna’s heart, literally steps from Piazza Maggiore. I’m talking about a two-minute walk to the main square, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos at your doorstep. The building itself has that gorgeous old Bologna character – you can actually see parts of the ancient city walls if you peer around the corner toward Via Rizzoli.

The suite itself honestly exceeded my expectations, and I’ve stayed in plenty of four-star places that felt way more corporate. Everything feels thoughtfully designed rather than just thrown together – the kind of attention to detail that makes you think the owners actually care about this place. The rooms have these beautiful high ceilings (typical for historic Bologna buildings) and the soundproofing is surprisingly good considering you’re in the centro storico. I mean, you’ll still hear the occasional vespa or late-night revelers, but it’s not like staying above a nightclub. The staff really knows their stuff too – they gave me restaurant recommendations that were spot-on, including this tiny osteria on Via del Pratello that I never would’ve found otherwise.

What really sets Ginevra Suite apart is how it captures that authentic Bologna vibe without feeling touristy. You’re literally surrounded by the city’s best food – Tamburini deli is practically next door, and you can walk to Osteria del Sole or Da Bertino in about thirty seconds. The morning routine of grabbing coffee and pastries from one of the nearby bars feels genuinely Italian, not like some staged hotel experience. Plus, if you’re into the university scene (Bologna’s got the oldest university in Europe, after all), the student quarter is right there with all its energy and surprisingly good cheap eats. That 9.6 rating makes total sense to me – it’s the kind of place that gets the big things right while nailing all those little details that turn a good stay into a memorable one. Just don’t expect a big fancy lobby or concierge desk – this is more intimate and personal, which honestly I prefer anyway.

  The property was in a great location. It was spacious and very clean. The apartment was supplied with everything you may need for a city break! We had full use of a washer/dryer which was really helpful.

  It is a very lovely apartment right in the middle of town. Check in was simple. The apartment was modern, nicely decorated and clean. Breakfast is offered by a local cafe using vouchers. Shops, restaurants and tourist sites are easily accessible. Also less than a minute to a supermarket.

  Great new apartment straight in city center, had all needed facilities. Best option to visit Bologna.
