So I stayed at this EcoLoft place on Via Bartolomeo Passarotti, and honestly? It’s one of those finds that makes you feel a bit smug about your booking skills. The name sounds like corporate speak, sure, but the actual apartment caught me off guard in the best way. You know how Bologna can be tricky with accommodations – either you’re crammed into some ancient building with paper-thin walls, or you’re paying through the nose for something soulless. This place actually strikes a balance.

The location is what sold me initially. Via Passarotti isn’t one of those streets tourists stumble onto, which means you’re living like locals do – there’s a fantastic panetteria just two doors down where the owner remembers your coffee order by day three, and you can walk to Piazza Maggiore in about fifteen minutes without dodging the worst of the crowds. The apartment itself feels thoughtfully put together, not just thrown together with IKEA furniture and called “modern.” I mean, there’s clearly some eco-friendly angle they’re going for (hence the name), but it doesn’t feel preachy about it. The lighting is warm, the kitchen actually works for cooking real meals, and the bed – well, I slept better there than I do at home, which is saying something.

What really impressed me was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a week. The shower pressure is excellent (trust me on this one), there’s enough storage space that you can unpack properly, and the neighborhood gets genuinely quiet after 10 PM. During the day, you hear life happening – people chatting on their way to work, the occasional Vespa puttering by – but it’s not the kind of noise that keeps you awake. The Host4U team was responsive without being overbearing, and check-in was smooth enough that I didn’t have to awkwardly wait around with my luggage. There’s street parking if you’re brave enough to drive in Bologna, though honestly, you won’t need a car for anything. The whole Santo Stefano area is walkable, and you’re close enough to the university quarter that there’s always something happening without being right in the thick of student chaos. At 8.4 out of 10, it’s clearly doing something right – and after staying there, I get it. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Bologna, but it nails what most travelers actually want: a clean, comfortable base that feels like home rather than a hotel room.

  Daire gayet temizdi, içinde bütün olanaklar düşünülmüştü. Mutfak aletlerinden ev aletlerine kadar her şey mevcuttu. Hiçbir sıkıntı çekmedim. Konum olarak merkeze bir tık uzaktı. Fakat çok yakınında otobüs durağı olduğu için kolayca gidilebiliyordu.
  
  What could be improved: 3 gece kaldığımız için 42 euro olan turizm vergisini bizden konaklamamız bitince istediler. Bence bunu değiştirmeliler. Bu ücretin içine dahil edilebilir. Çünkü ben normalde bu vergiyi kredi kartı ile ödemek istiyordum. Fakat attıkları linkteki buton çalışmadı ve parayı transfer etmem istendi. Maalesef bu transfer sürecinde sıkıntılar yaşadım ve transfer ederken de yurt dışından geldiğim için çok fazla para kesildi. Bu ücretin içine dahil edilse en iyisi fakat evden çıkmadan önce evin içine koymamız da istenebilirdi. Diğer çoğu konaklamamda bunu böyle yaptım. Buna bir çözüm bulmalılar veya kredi kartı butonunu çalışır hale getirmeliler. Çünkü yurt dışından gelenler için büyük bir sorum bence.
  Ayrıca eve ilk girişte biraz karmaşık ve yanlış bir yazı gönderildi. Bu nedenle neredeyse içeri giriş yapamayacaktık. Fakat kısa sürede çözdük.

  The accommodation was nice, well equipped and not so far from city center ( around 30 minutes of walking, or you can take the bus). The check in and check out was clear and simple.
  You have a supermarket 10 minutes away.
  
  What could be improved: No curtain on top window, so your neighbors can see directly into your bed.
  No bed night stands
  No daily cleaning service ( or at least to have towels changed)
  Metal staircase was not the best idea, makes a lot of noise going upstairs and downstairs.
  In order to take the trash out, it seems that you need some kind of card to open the trash can on the street (luckily was already open when we needed to use it)
  
  Not the case but: they request a tax for late check in, which I do not understand since there is no one to welcome you, so no personal interaction, take the key, leave the key and that is it.
  
  Also, I was contacted after 3 months that the city tourist tax was not paid (not due to our fault). Not a problem, but I found the contacting method to be unprofessional, I lost a lot of time going back and forth with Booking to see if the message was legit or some sort of scam (not by the owner, but from someone else that pretends to be the owner). I wish they have informed us about the city tax before/during our stay or to have it in the description that is paid separately.

  Very good contact with the host. Apartment in a quiet and peaceful area, close to the store and public transport. Washing machine, iron, air conditioning, cleaning products – available on site.
  
  What could be improved: Unfortunately, the oven was missing upon arrival and was not reinstalled for the entire month – a well-equipped kitchen was one of the criteria for choosing this apartment.

  What could be improved: The stay went well until I accidentally forgot the keys inside the apartment… I called the contact number that appears in booking and after many calls and an hour and a half of waiting they told me that they would have to call a locksmith and I would have to pay the cost… I refused and then he opened the apartment door remotely with an application…. Terrible communication, really.

  The location is good, just a few stops by bus to get to the train station and to city centre.
  
  What could be improved: There were no written instructions of any type in the usage of the appliances or the key system. The host emphasized on I need to hold responsibility for any damage but I have to figure out how things have to be handled. I was locked out from the apartment since there was something wrong with the key and lock but the host refused to call the locksmith for me even though I can't speak Italian.
