Deluxe Suite Fine Art Historic Centre Overview

You know what struck me first about this place? The address – Via San Simone is literally a stone’s throw from Piazza Maggiore, but it’s tucked away on this quiet side street that most tourists never discover. I mean, you’re basically in the heart of Bologna’s historic center, but somehow you escape all that chaos of people trying to find the basilica or getting lost looking for the university buildings.

The suite itself is honestly something special. They weren’t kidding about the “fine art” part – there are actual paintings on the walls, not those generic hotel prints you see everywhere. The space feels more like staying in someone’s elegant apartment than a typical hotel room. The ceilings are high (which you’ll appreciate in summer, trust me), and the windows look out onto these narrow medieval streets where you can hear the locals chatting in the evening. I actually loved falling asleep to those sounds – it’s way better than traffic noise. The bathroom is modern without being sterile, and they’ve got this rainfall shower that’s perfect after spending the day walking around Bologna’s endless porticoes.

What really sets this place apart is the location knowledge the staff has. The woman at reception – I wish I remembered her name – gave me directions to this tiny osteria that wasn’t in any guidebook, just a ten-minute walk through some back streets near Via del Pratello. She also warned me about the market timing on Saturdays (it gets absolutely packed around 10 AM), which saved me from the crowds. Parking can be tricky in this area, but they actually have arrangements with a garage nearby – something you definitely need to ask about when booking because driving in Bologna’s center is… well, let’s just say it’s not for the faint of heart.

The building itself has this wonderful old-world feel without being stuffy. You can tell it’s been carefully restored – the floors creak just enough to remind you you’re in a historic building, but everything works perfectly. The WiFi is solid (I was working remotely for part of my stay), and they’ve got air conditioning that actually keeps up with those sticky July afternoons. Honestly, the 10 rating makes sense once you experience the attention to detail. Little things like fresh flowers in the room, really good coffee in the morning, and the way they remember your preferences after the first day.

If you’re the type who wants to be right in the thick of things but still have a peaceful place to retreat to, this is your spot. You can walk to Quadrilatero market for breakfast, spend the afternoon exploring the university area, grab aperitivo somewhere around Via del Pratello, and still be back in your quiet suite within minutes. Bologna isn’t as touristy as Florence or Rome, so you get this authentic Italian city experience – and staying here puts you right in the middle of it all without feeling like you’re in a tourist trap.

Reviews of Deluxe Suite Fine Art Historic Centre

  • A truly exceptional stay in the heart of Bologna. – Murat from Turkey – 24 June 2025 (10/10)

Deluxe Suite Fine Art Historic Centre is a masterpiece of design-blending the charm of medieval Italy with the comfort of a modern smart home. Every detail, from the high-end furnishings to the seamless home automation system, reflects quality and style. Located right in the city center, this beautifully restored home made us feel like we were living in a work of art. We enjoyed it so much that we hardly wanted to step outside during our entire stay.

What could be improved: It’s worth completing the onboarding process in advance. Although we managed to do it quickly on our phone at the last minute, it might be a bit challenging for guests who are not very familiar with technology.

  • Beautiful apartment and perfect location! – K from Malta – 12 June 2025 (10/10)

This is a beautiful apartment in a lovely traditional building right in the centre of Bologna. It is the perfect location for visiting the historic centre and it is surrounded by great restaurants, cafes and bars. It is one of the nicest apartments I have ever stayed in and hosts were kind and responsive. Highly recommend staying here.

What could be improved: No complaints, it’s a wonderful apartment.
