Front Station Apartment – Stazione Centrale di Bologna Overview
So I stumbled across this place while hunting for somewhere decent near Bologna Centrale, and honestly? Front Station Apartment totally delivers on what it promises. You know how most places near train stations are either sketchy or overpriced tourist traps – well, this one’s neither. It’s tucked right on Viale Pietro Pietramellara, which sounds fancy but it’s actually just the main drag leading straight to the station. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from the platforms, which is clutch if you’re doing that whole Italian train-hopping thing.
The building itself has this solid, no-nonsense vibe – not Instagram-pretty, but you can tell it’s been renovated with actual thought behind it. What really caught me off guard was how quiet it stays inside, even with all the foot traffic outside. They’ve got these decent windows that actually block out the street noise, which… look, I was skeptical about staying so close to a major train hub, but I slept fine. The apartments themselves feel more like someone’s well-organized city flat than a hotel room, if that makes sense. There’s this practical Italian approach to the whole setup – good coffee setup in the kitchenette, shower that actually has proper water pressure, Wi-Fi that doesn’t cut out every five minutes.
Here’s what locals probably won’t tell you: that area gets pretty lively during evening aperitivo hours, but it’s the good kind of busy. You’ve got university students mixing with travelers, and there are these little bars tucked into side streets that you’d never find unless you’re staying right there. The staff actually knows their stuff too – they’ll point you toward Via del Pratello for nightlife or tell you which morning trains get packed (spoiler: avoid the 8:15 to Florence if you can). Parking’s tricky around there, but honestly, you don’t need a car – the whole historic center is walkable, and the bus connections are solid. I’d say the 8.2 rating feels about right; it’s not trying to be some luxury experience, but it nails what business travelers and smart tourists actually need. The price point makes sense for what you get, especially considering you’re basically in the heart of everything without paying centro storico prices.

Reviews of Front Station Apartment – Stazione Centrale di Bologna
Nice facility as a base to explore both Bologna and the surrounding region via Stazione Centrale – Casalmir from United States – 27 May 2025 (10/10)
Nice room in a really convenient location. Perfect base for outings around Bologna and then some daytrips using Stazione Centrale to Modena as well as Firenze, and finally the Marconi Express to the airport. The washing machine, fridge, wifi, and espresso machine were much appreciated in addition to the clean and comfortable room.
What could be improved: Finding the right key-box amongst other similar ones was confusing until we referenced the sent image. The door lock tumblers seemed to need a little finesse on the last turn, but glad for the extra security. I was initially worried the inner door knob was broken as it seemed slightly dislocated, but found out it did not need to be turned due to the tumbler lock setupWould stay again – Beckie from United Kingdom – 8 February 2025 (10/10)
The apartment was easy to get into, clean and exactly what you would expect from looking at the pictures. It was literally opposite the train station too which was perfect for catching an early train the next morning.
Exceptional – Pavlos from Greece – 5 February 2025 (10/10)
very comfortable apartment with everything you need! refrigerator, washing machine, kitchen, comfortable bed, espresso machine, water filter and many other things for a comfortable stay like at your home. We didn't miss anything and the hosts are perfect!
Exceptional – Monika from Poland – 10 October 2024 (10/10)
Perfect, very clean. Located exactly opposite the train station.
A great and comfortable option for people who prefer to stay near the trainstation in Bologna – Shai from Israel – 9 October 2024 (9/10)
Very comfortable and clean, equipped with everything that we needed.
What could be improved: The location is extremely close to the train which is great when you have luggage to carry, but it’s definitely a less nice part of townVery nice place, clean and comfortable with many amenities, includning a nice kitchenette. – Daniel from United States – 7 October 2024 (7/10)
Very clean, comfortable and has a kitchenette with many amenities.
What could be improved: We arrived at night. We could not find the lock box initially. The manager walked us through by phone on how to enter. But it was not easy. Once in the hallway, I could not locate the light switch in the darkness. The location is not across the train station but diagonally across the street. It is a wonder we found it. The number is 35 A not 35. There are a number of 35s with different letters. If the manager had taken the initiative to phone or meet us, this review would have been much higher. The location is actually close to everything.Great apartment once a couple of fixable things are addressed – Roslyn from Australia – 9 July 2024 (8/10)
Great location and has a good layout and space to make it comfortable.
What could be improved: We had some issues with the cooling and appliances but the management were responsive and have confirmed they will sort them out ( we only had a short stay).Great apartment as a stopover or for a longer stay in Bologna. – Steve from United States – 13 May 2024 (9/10)
Stayed here one night before catching a train the next day to our final destination. Location was excellent – short walk to the train station and slightly longer, but easy walk into town for shopping/dining. Room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Host was super helpful with one issue that came up – all our fault, but he graciously helped us out very late at night. Thanks!
Superb – Jakub from Poland – 7 May 2024 (9/10)

Superb – Klaudia from Poland – 5 May 2024 (9/10)
Very clean apartment, in an ideal area for people who plan to travel by train. Plenty of adapters so we could charge our phones and powerbanks. All necessary in the kitchen. 😊
