You know what really struck me about this place on Via Ugo Bassi? The location is honestly perfect if you actually want to experience Bologna like a person who lives there, not just tick off tourist boxes. I mean, you’re literally steps from Piazza Maggiore – and I’m talking about a two-minute walk, not some inflated hotel marketing “steps.” The street itself has this great energy because it’s one of those main arteries that locals use constantly, so there’s always something happening but it’s not touristy chaos.

The apartment itself feels surprisingly spacious for what you’d expect in Bologna’s centro storico. The ceilings are high (typical for these old buildings), and honestly, the whole setup just works better than most hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. You’ve got proper space to spread out, and the kitchen situation is actually useful – not just some sad mini-fridge situation. What really gets me is how quiet it stays at night despite being on a busy street. These old buildings have thick walls, I guess, plus Bologna isn’t really a late-night party city anyway. The morning routine is pretty great too because you can grab fresh bread from the bakery downstairs, then wander over to Mercato di Mezzo for proper coffee without even thinking about it.

Here’s the thing about this particular spot that took me a day to fully appreciate – you’re positioned perfectly between the university area and the main shopping district. Walk one direction and you hit Via del Pratello with all its wine bars and student energy, walk the other way and you’re at Galleria Cavour if you need to buy something decent. The food situation is just ridiculous in the best way. I’m talking about Osteria del Sole being maybe a five-minute walk, and that little place on Via Pescherie Vecchie where they make tortellini by hand every morning. You sort of stumble into great meals without even trying. The 9.5 rating honestly makes sense when you consider how seamlessly everything works – check-in was smooth, the space delivers on what it promises, and the location means you’re never more than a few minutes from whatever you need. It’s one of those places where you stop thinking about where you’re staying and just start living in Bologna for a few days.

  I just spent 2 nights at @central apartment close to food and shopping. This is a very nice apartment, clean and neat. You will have a fresh market downstairs, 7 mins walking to the city old town center. Bus station in front of the building. He also prepared a detergent for me to use the washing machine 😍. Good price and good owner.

  The place is conveniently located, close to tourist attractions, restaurants and shops. The apartment is clean, spacious and fully equipped. Handy to have a washing machine.
  The host, Giovanni, was communicative and quick to respond . He provided many tips in a booklet. When taxis were unavailable, he stepped up and found us a taxi. Thank you.

  Excellent location within a stone's throw of Piazza Maggiore. A well-designed space that had everything you could need for a short stay. The coffee from the Bottega de Cafe just buy the entrance door was great and being right over the local fruit and veg market was very welcome. The market also has good places to eat and drink.
  
  What could be improved: There was some noise from building work but the builders were very considerate and they didn't disturb our sleep.

  Great location for exploring Bologna on foot if that’s your jam. Comfortable bed, smallish bathroom but that’s normal in Europe. Kitchen had everything needed. Perfect for a couple or individual traveler.
  
  What could be improved: The construction upstairs starting at 8am was a bit annoying but there’s nothing the property manager can do about that. Also helped to get us moving in the morning!

  The apartment is lovely—super clean, well-equipped, and spacious. It is well-ventilated and features an efficient heating system. The fully functional kitchen had everything we needed for our stay.
  Additionally, the location is ideal; it is very close to the center yet remains quiet, allowing for a peaceful retreat. The host was incredibly kind and helpful, assisting us in every way possible.
  Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely book this apartment again.
