Casa Paglietta Overview
So I stumbled across Casa Paglietta during one of those late-night booking sessions when everything decent in Bologna seemed full, and honestly? Best accidental find in ages. This place sits right on Via Paglietta – which, if you know Bologna at all, puts you in this perfect sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything but not drowning in tourist chaos. The ground floor location (piano terra, as they say) means no dragging luggage up ancient Italian stairs, which trust me, your back will thank you for.
What actually struck me first was how the place feels like someone’s well-appointed apartment rather than a sterile hotel room. The owners clearly put thought into the details – I’m talking about proper lighting that doesn’t make you look like a zombie, decent water pressure (crucial in older Italian buildings), and windows that actually block out street noise. You know what I mean about Italian streets at night, right? Vespa symphonies and animated conversations that carry on until dawn. Here though, you can sleep through it all. The decor walks this nice line between modern comfort and respecting the Bologna vibe – none of that generic international hotel blandness you see everywhere now.
Location-wise, you’re maybe a ten-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore if you take the route through the smaller streets, which I’d recommend anyway because that’s where you’ll find the good stuff. There’s this little osteria just around the corner – Via dell’Inferno, I think? – that does incredible tortellini, and the morning market on Via Ugo Bassi is close enough that you can grab proper coffee and pastries before the tourists figure out where to go. Parking is typical Bologna nightmare territory, but the hotel folks were actually helpful with suggestions rather than just shrugging and saying “good luck” like some places do. The 4-star rating feels about right – it’s not luxury resort territory, but everything works properly and feels thoughtfully done. I mean, the shower alone puts it ahead of half the places I’ve stayed in this price range. Check-in was refreshingly human too, not some rushed transaction where they’re already looking past you to the next person in line.

Reviews of Casa Paglietta
Very cozy and quite conveniently located – Corradini from Italy – 7 July 2025 (9/10)
Very conveniently located: near the outer walls but very quiet, both the neighborhood and the building. Also, it’s very well equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, Wi-Fi, microwave,…. I think the place is quite appropriate also for medium-long stays.
What could be improved: The only minor issue I’d like to raise concerns the AC, which is a bit noisy.Ottima scelta per viversi Bologna. – Pisapia from Italy – 21 June 2025 (8/10)
Superb – Eriko from Germany – 18 June 2025 (9/10)
– Nice location. In the historic quarter of town, 10 to 15 minutes’ walk to the city hub. Direct bus connection from Bologna Centrale train station (about 15 minutes).
– Good communication with the proprietor. Quick response over WhatsApp or Booking.com platform. Personal welcome and showing around the house at arrival, which has become increasingly rare.
– Cozy, lovely apartment. Tastefully decorated with a nostalgic touch. Loved everything from a grandma-style dresser to granite kitchen counter.
– Washing machine. Did not need it for a 2-night stay this time, but as light travelers with only backpacks, we always appreciate accommodations equipped with a washing machine.
– Ample storage space. Chest of drawers, closets.
What could be improved: – Street noise. Every activity in front of the window quite audible, though not the house’s direct responsibility (voices of passers-by, motorcycles, people emptying trash into the containers placed just in front of our windows, trash collection cars at 3 am). Some strategies recommended for light sleepers or those intending to stay in the house for longer hours, such as ear plugs.
– Would be nice to have a small trash bin in the bathroom.Very good – Alba from Spain – 15 June 2025 (8/10)
Tot era com es veia en les fotos.
A 10 minuts caminant del centre, molt ben ubicat. Un supermercat a 5 minuts caminant.
Per cuinar hi havia de tot, fins i tot ens van deixar oli, sal, pebre…
What could be improved: També ens van deixar cafè, amb cafetera moka, pero era horrible. Semblava ranci.
Que fos una planta baixa (ho deia a l’anunci) ens donava sensacio de mes inseguretat, perque se sentien bastant els sorolls del carrer, pero va anar molt be totExceptional – Alexandra from Romania – 20 May 2025 (10/10)
The host was amazing, very friendly and helpful. And her dog was nice, we love Mia.
3 giorni a Bologna – Lenzi from Italy – 23 February 2025 (7/10)
Comoda per la posizione molto vicina al centro e anche molto comoda per il parcheggio nelle vicinanze.
What could be improved: L'alloggio non è ben insonorizzato e si sentono molto i rumori esterni di auto e gente che passa.Disappointing – Sabrina from United Kingdom – 12 September 2024 (4/10)
Host was very helpful and the apartment is central.
What could be improved: Garbage trucks right outside your window at midnight with flashing lights and very loud. The aircon is a portable one which is also very noisy and only in the living room . The apartment feels a bit like a basement. I felt a bit claustrophobic. It's an old apartmentGood – Rino from Belgium – 23 April 2024 (7/10)
Proximité du centre historique
What could be improved: Endroit particulièrement bruyant.Perfect place to stay in the heart of Bologna – Miryana from Bulgaria – 23 July 2023 (10/10)
We got to the place 3 hours earlier before the check in and they let us in, which was a great surprise. A person from the staff welcome us, explain us everything about the place, gave us a map and details about the surroundings. The flat was just splending, very clean and stocked with everything so that you feel at home. The beds are very comfortable, you have a coffee machine and even jams. It is very convient close to the city ceneter and for 12 minutes waking walk you can have a nice breakfast just around the main tower.
What could be improved: nothingSuperb – Biljana from Serbia – 19 June 2023 (9/10)
Location and a lot of space
What could be improved: WiFi connection is very, very poor, almost like it does not exist.
