Casa del Sole by Studio Vita Overview

You know what struck me first about Casa del Sole? The way Studio Vita managed to turn what’s essentially a second-floor apartment on Via de’ Falegnami into something that feels way more sophisticated than your typical Bologna stay. I mean, the address might not ring a bell, but you’re literally a three-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore – and honestly, that’s about as central as you can get without paying those insane rates right on the square itself. The street’s one of those narrow medieval ones where you’ll hear the morning delivery trucks echoing off the walls around 7 AM, but by 9 it settles into this lovely rhythm of locals heading to work and tourists figuring out their day.

What actually sets this place apart is how they’ve nailed that whole “boutique but not trying too hard” vibe. The rooms have this clean, almost Scandinavian feel – lots of whites and warm woods – but with enough Italian character that you don’t forget where you are. The bathroom tiles, for instance, are clearly chosen by someone who cares about design details, and the shower pressure is honestly better than what I have at home. Check-in was refreshingly smooth too, none of that awkward fumbling with keys or confusing instructions you sometimes get with smaller properties. The staff genuinely seems to know Bologna well – they pointed me toward this little osteria on Via del Pratello that I never would’ve found otherwise, and it ended up being one of those perfect neighborhood spots where half the diners are regulars.

Here’s the thing about staying here: you’re in the heart of everything, but tucked away enough that you feel like you’ve discovered something. Walk five minutes east and you’re at the Two Towers, head west and you hit the university district with all its energy and late-night action. The building itself is old – I mean, this is Bologna, everything’s old – but they’ve done the updates where they matter. Good WiFi, proper air conditioning (crucial in summer), and the kind of comfortable beds that make you want to sleep in. The 8.7 rating makes total sense to me because while it’s not luxury-hotel perfect, it gets all the important stuff right. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the whole place just feels honest – like they’re not trying to be something they’re not, just doing the boutique hotel thing really well in a city where it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle of generic accommodations.

Reviews of Casa del Sole by Studio Vita

  • a wonderful stay – Alejandro from United States – 13 January 2025 (10/10)

The location is excellent. Quiet location in the middle of Bologna. Shops and restaurants nearby. A great supermarket is located 5 minutes away.

What could be improved: Nothing. Everything was perfect

  • Superb – Zohar from Israel – 11 October 2024 (9/10)

Lovely apartment in perfect location. The hosts were great!!!

  • Exceptional – Dimitrios from Greece – 1 September 2024 (10/10)

It was situated very close to the center, in a clean small street. Every morning exactly under our appartement there was a boulangerie, were we went to drink our coffe and with a variety of excellent croissants, cookies, cakes etc. Quiet mornings. Then we could go up Via Indepedenza to the center. Appartement very clean . Everything we could need to use during our stay was available. Polite people there and everywhere in Bologna. I recomend it for a couple although we travelled with our son and he had a separate bed in the other room.

  • Excellent apartment. It has all the basic amenities to make your stay memorable in Bologna. – Alejandro from United States – 12 January 2024 (10/10)

  • Superb – Helen from Australia – 25 October 2023 (9/10)

Very handy to everything. Easy walking distance to all sights.

  • Perfect location, cozy and clean and I would stay there again. – Maurice from United States – 20 October 2023 (9/10)

Very convenient to walk to Piazza Maggiore and the Train station. Restaurants are just outside the door, a bakery, small produce store and just about any other thing you might need.

What could be improved: We were very happy so no real dislikes.

  • Clean, tidy, perfectly located, a great base for exploring the area! – Claire from United Kingdom – 13 June 2023 (9/10)

Travelled as a family of 3. The location is very central – nice short walk to train station and all the landmarks. Bakers, grocery store, and restaurants in the same street. The apartment is very clean, comfortable beds, air conditioning a plus, and we loved all the sockets – something that is often lacking on trips to other countries. There are plenty of hooks, cupboard space, a generous wardrobe, 2 televisions (with Netflix!), and a perfect, containable kitchen space. The bathroom was spotless and the shower was powerful, plenty of towels.

What could be improved: I'm not sure what could have been better – perfect for a base. There was a wrong Wi-Fi code printed but that was easily rectified after asking the office. Also we were unable to deposit rubbish in the local bins due to no pass key – not the fault of the property agent – they have been waiting for a pass key for the bins! Soon to be rectified I'm sure.

  • Amazing apartment in great location – Nerea from United States – 4 June 2023 (10/10)

The location was great. Near the train station and the main street, but quiet enough to have a good night sleep.
The apartment itself was very well equipped, including a dishwasher and washing machine (for which they provided the soap too). Wi-fi was fast and reliable.

  • Exceptional – Sheryl from Australia – 22 May 2023 (10/10)

The apartment was in a great location, had everything in it you would want and everything worked well. Good washing machine and fantastic shower.

What could be improved: Loed everything!

  • Nice clean appartment great location – Gavin from United Kingdom – 26 January 2023 (9/10)

    Excellent location
    Friendly host
Good facilitys, has dishwaaher, washing machine.

What could be improved: The only very minor point was for the first few days there was a slight smell from the drains in the bathroom but it got better as the week went on.
