You know what struck me first about Casa del Dottore? The elevator ride to the 6th floor – yeah, it’s a bit of a climb if you’re lugging heavy bags, but honestly, once those doors open, you forget all about it. Studio Vita has done something really special here. The space feels like someone’s incredibly stylish apartment rather than a hotel, which makes sense given the name (it literally means “the doctor’s house”). The rooms have this warm, lived-in elegance that’s distinctly Italian – think exposed beams, carefully chosen antiques, and that perfect balance of old-world charm with modern comfort that Bologna does so well.

The location on Via Riva di Reno is actually brilliant, though you might not realize it at first glance. I mean, it’s tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds, but you’re literally a 5-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore. More importantly – and this is something only locals seem to know – you’re right in the heart of what I call “real Bologna.” There’s this fantastic little osteria just around the corner where the pasta is handmade every morning, and the Saturday market on Via Drapperie is close enough that you can smell the fresh bread from your window. The building itself sits on one of those narrow medieval streets that somehow manages to stay relatively quiet, even during the busy summer months when the city center can get pretty hectic.

What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail – the kind of stuff that makes you think the owners actually care about your experience. The beds are properly comfortable (not just Instagram-pretty), the shower pressure is excellent, and there’s real soundproofing, which matters more than you’d think in a historic building. I stayed here during the spring when the windows were open, and you get these lovely sounds of daily life – church bells, the distant chatter from the little piazzas – without the noise of traffic or late-night revelers. The 8.9 rating honestly feels about right; it’s not trying to be a luxury palace, but it nails what it’s going for. The check-in process is smooth, the staff knows the neighborhood inside and out, and they’ll point you toward places that aren’t in the guidebooks. If you’re looking for that authentic Bologna experience without sacrificing comfort, this is exactly the kind of place you want to book.

  Se trata de un apartamento amplio, bien ubicado y con una pequeña terracita con bonitas panorámicas de parte de la ciudad. Este último punto es lo que más nos gustó y disfrutamos. Destaca su limpieza y luminosidad. En mi opinión se trata de un antiguo apartamento habitacional (al parecer una antigua consulta médica?) un poco descuidado que debe orientarse un poco más hacia apartamento turístico, ya que denota cierta dejadez. La decoración es un poco ecléctica y vintage, poco funcional, pero puede encontrar su público, seguro. Hay algunas cosas que están renovadas como las ventanas (muy buenas), así como la cocina que es nueva y amplia, además existe un sofá? en ella. Cuenta con un baño y un aseo, ambos amplios, aunque necesitarían alguna actualización. Buenas toallas. La habitación es amplia y la cama es enorme, aunque a su colchón empiezan a notarse los muelles. En conclusión, es un alojamiento correcto, bien ubicado y amplio, pero que tiene algunos aspectos que pueden mejorarse.
  
  What could be improved: En mi opinión, como he mencionado anteriormente, el apartamento debe adaptarse mejor hacia un apartamento turístico. Algunos aspectos que, desde nuestro punto de vista, deben mejorarse son los siguientes. El colchón del dormitorio principal debería renovarse. Se sale mucha agua durante la ducha, es estrictamente necesario poner una cortina o mampara en la ducha. Se agradecería una luz en el hall de entrada, así como un perchero. La iluminación debería mejorarse en general, y en particular, en el salón donde hay dos hermosas lámparas con sólo una bombilla en cada una de ellas. Por último, aunque es habitual en algunos sitios, el checkout a las 10am nos resulta abusivo ( si bien es cierto que no fueron muy estrictos en este punto). En definitiva, es un piso con potencial, pero al que habría que actualizar para que la estancia sea más cómoda.
