But here’s the thing about Bologna: sometimes the best experiences happen when you venture beyond the tourist bubble, and this place is exactly that kind of gem.

The moment you walk in, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about this place. You know how some hotels feel like they’re just going through the motions? Casa Bartolini is the opposite – it’s got that lived-in elegance that only comes from genuine attention to detail. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood, which matters more than you’d think. They’ll point you toward the little osteria around the corner (trust me on this one) or help you figure out the bus routes into the city center without that glazed-over look you get at bigger chains. Speaking of getting around – the location is actually pretty smart if you’re not dead set on stumbling home from Via del Pratello at 2 AM. You’re about a 15-minute bus ride from Piazza Maggiore, but more importantly, you’re in an area where actual Bolognesi live and work, which means better coffee prices and none of that tourist-trap nonsense.

What really won me over was the attention to those little things that make or break a stay. The rooms feel thoughtfully designed rather than committee-approved – I mean, someone actually considered where you’d want to plug in your phone and whether the lighting works for reading. The breakfast setup doesn’t try to be everything to everyone, but what they do have is solid and fresh. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the place just sounds right – you know how some hotels have that constant hum of elevators and ice machines? Here it’s quiet enough to actually sleep, but you still get those lovely Italian street sounds filtering in during the day. The whole experience feels less like staying at a hotel and more like crashing at a friend’s really well-appointed apartment – if your friend happened to have impeccable taste and a 4-star budget. For the price point and that 9-rating they’ve earned, Casa Bartolini delivers exactly what you want from a Bologna base: comfort, character, and that sense that you’re experiencing the city rather than just passing through it.

  Abbiamo soggiorna per motivi sanitari, posizione comodissima per la clinica Villa Laura. L’appartamento è molto confortevole, bello e caldissimo (con 1° esternamente) dentro siamo stati benissimo. Dotato di ogni comfort come la cucina completa di tutto microonde, lavastoviglie, tv e aria condizionata ben funzionante, addirittura abbiamo trovato la lavatrice e asse da stiro con ferro se eventuale bisogno. Ottima zona di Bologna collegata con mezzi pubblici sia autobus (fermata sotto casa) che treno (per chi arriva dalla stazione centrale) a 5 min a piedi dalla stazione Mazzini. Self Check-in rapido e semplice comodissimo per l'ora che siamo arrivati (4 ore di ritardo di quella concordata causa guasto linea dei treni). Ho apprezzato molto un vassoio con biscotti, latte, croissant e fette biscottate con le varie marmellate per fare una prima colazione per i giorni prenotati anche se non era inclusa nella mia prenotazione, il proprietario gentilissimo, disponibile a soddisfare ogni nostra richiesta.
  
  What could be improved: Non ho niente da dire, però come avevo letto in altre recezioni, confermo che su Booking al prezzo che esce va aggiunta la tassa di soggiorno di 4,20€ a persona a notte, quindi bisogna sommare questa spesa, ma se dovessi tornare a Bologna valuto il tutto nuovamente.

  What could be improved: I didn't like that the owner of the apartment informed me about the city tax just before crossing the threshold. That is, it was an unpleasant surprise.
  The mattresses are not good. Anyone with back problems will check it out. Your back will hurt in the morning. Poor sound insulation

  We really liked the apartment – it was spacious, cosy and very well equipped. We travelled with 2-year old baby and the Host brought us a highchair and cot for the baby with beautiful baby linen, which was really nice.
  Communication with the Host and his support was great and highly appreciated from the very beginning, we were missing towels and dishwasher tabs and upon notification, he brought us all missing stuff within 30 mins!
  Location is fine, but you need to take public transportation if you'd like to get to the city center quicker.

  Easy to access city via bus which are every few minutes. Bedrooms were a good size, with a comfortable cot provided. Aircon was powerful which was much needed during very high temperatures. The host was extremely responsive, replying within seconds with any queries or requests we had. Supermarkets near by to get what you need. There are stairs up to the property but a small lift is available.
  
  What could be improved: Loud noises one night (Friday). No kettle – but a minor point. Parking can be very challenging, we knew about this – but worth bearing in mind.

  Everything went super well in a clean and top of the notch apartment.
  Host is a very arranging and very kind person.
  This was facilitating our stay which was for business purposes. Each of us (two colleagues) has his proper room.
  We had the possibility to cook in a very clean and well equipped kitchen.
  
  What could be improved: this can be a challenge to park the car in a nearby street but feasible if you are patient 🙂
