Capo 15 Apartment Overview
You know what struck me first about Capo 15? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street that honestly feels more like where actual Bolognese people live, not where tourists usually end up. Via Capo di Lucca runs parallel to the main drag, so you get that authentic neighborhood vibe without being completely cut off from everything. I mean, you’re still walking distance to the historic center, but you’ll actually hear normal life happening around you – kids playing in the courtyard across the way, the neighbor’s Vespa puttering to life in the morning, that sort of thing.
The apartment itself has this solid, lived-in quality that I really appreciated. It’s clearly a 4-star place – everything works properly, the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the shower actually has decent water pressure (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given in Italian apartments). The layout feels genuinely Italian too, with these high ceilings and windows that open wide instead of those tiny hotel room slits. What I loved was how they kept some of the original character – the floors have that slightly worn marble that’s been there for decades, and the shutters are the real deal, not some decorative nonsense. The kitchen was actually functional, which surprised me since most “apartment hotels” give you a sad mini-fridge and call it a day.
The location really grows on you once you figure out the rhythm of the neighborhood. There’s this little alimentari about two blocks down where the owner, Giuseppe, will slice you the best mortadella in Bologna if you ask nicely (and attempt some Italian). The 27 bus stops right at the corner and takes you straight to the train station, though honestly, walking into the centro storico only takes about fifteen minutes if you cut through the university area. Speaking of which – you’re close enough to the university quarter that you’ll find plenty of affordable spots to eat, but far enough that you won’t be dealing with drunk students at 2 AM. The rating sits at 8.1, which feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does everything well without any major frustrations. Check-in was smooth, though they do that very Italian thing where you need to coordinate your arrival time in advance. Just… don’t show up at 2 PM expecting to walk right in.
