Best Western Plus Tower Hotel Bologna Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Best Western Plus Tower Hotel on Viale Lenin, I wasn’t expecting much. The street’s a bit industrial, you know? But then you walk into the lobby and it’s actually pretty impressive. Clean lines, modern furniture, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see me (which, after a long day navigating Bologna’s maze of streets, was exactly what I needed).

The thing about this place is that it gets the fundamentals right in a way that matters. The rooms are properly soundproofed – and I mean that’s huge because Bologna can get surprisingly noisy, especially during university season when the students are out and about. My room on the fifth floor had this decent view toward the city center, and honestly, watching the morning light hit those terracotta rooftops while having coffee was worth the stay alone. The beds are firm but comfortable, and there’s actual space to spread out your stuff, which you don’t always get in Italian hotels. Plus the AC works properly – trust me, if you’re visiting in summer, you’ll appreciate this more than you think.

What really won me over though is how the hotel sits in Bologna’s fabric. You’re about a 15-minute walk from Porta San Donato, which puts you right on the edge of the university district without being in the thick of the weekend chaos. There’s this little osteria called Al Posta just two blocks away that serves the best tortellini in brodo I had during my entire week in Bologna – the kind of place you’d never find if you were staying in the touristy center. The hotel staff actually told me about it, which says something about how they think about hospitality. And if you need groceries or pharmacy stuff, there’s a Coop right around the corner on Via Stalingrado.

The breakfast is… well, it’s hotel breakfast, but they do a decent cappuccino and the pastries are from a local bakery rather than those frozen things you get at chain hotels. I actually ended up chatting with a businessman from Milan most mornings – he’d been staying there monthly for work and said he kept coming back because the internet actually works (apparently crucial for his video calls) and the front desk remembers your preferences. Small touches, but they add up.

Parking was surprisingly painless too, which anyone who’s driven in Bologna will tell you is basically a miracle. They have their own garage, so you’re not circling the block looking for a spot or feeding meters every two hours. The whole check-in process took maybe five minutes, and when I had to leave super early for a train, they sorted out my bill the night before so I could just drop my key and go.

I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind or anything, but this is exactly the kind of place you want when you’re actually trying to experience Bologna rather than just tick it off a list. You’ll sleep well, the shower pressure is solid, and you’re positioned perfectly to explore both the historic center and some of the neighborhoods where actual Bolognesi live and eat. Sometimes that’s worth more than all the marble lobbies in the world.

Reviews of Best Western Plus Tower Hotel Bologna

  • Clean, spacious and great staff – Eric from Netherlands – 13 July 2025 (8/10)

Friendly and professional staff! We had a clean and spacious room. It was a great pleasure to stay here.

What could be improved: Finding the exit from the road was a bit tricky but later we saw clear signs indicating the right direction. Also the hotel is not very close to the city centre but it was not an issue as we took the bus.

  • Very good – Brindusa from Germany – 18 June 2025 (8/10)

For italian standard breakfast had variety of things, but probably after 3 days there was nothing new… coffee was disspointing (even capucinno) although there was a machine with beans. Location is good when you come from highway, but a bit far from the city center. With a bus you can get in 15 minutes in center of Bologna. Need to check where to find tickets, in the bus is a complicated system which for one afternoon didn't check in details, so we walked most of the time.
Enough parking places , appartment was as described.
