b&b marconi 49 Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to b&b marconi 49 on Via Guglielmo Marconi, you immediately get that feeling you’ve stumbled onto something special. This four-star gem sits right in the heart of Bologna, and I mean really in the heart — you’re literally steps away from everything that makes this city incredible. The building itself has that classic Italian charm you hope for, but without feeling stuffy or overly formal.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about Bologna — location is everything, and this place nailed it. You’re on Via Marconi, which honestly couldn’t be better positioned if you tried. I found myself walking to Piazza Maggiore in about five minutes, and the university district is just around the corner. What I really loved is how you can duck into those amazing porticoes (Bologna’s covered walkways) and explore the city even when it’s raining. The couples who stay here clearly get it — they’ve rated the location 9.2, and after spending time in the area, I totally understand why.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was thoughtfully designed — not huge, but cleverly laid out in that European way where every inch serves a purpose. The bed was genuinely comfortable, and the bathroom was modern without losing the building’s character. What struck me most was the attention to detail — good lighting for reading, proper outlets where you need them, and windows that actually open (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case). The soundproofing works well too, which matters when you’re this central in a bustling Italian city.
The B&B Experience
This is where b&b marconi 49 really shines — it feels personal in a way that bigger hotels just can’t match. The hosts clearly know Bologna inside and out, and they’re genuinely helpful with recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. Breakfast was solid — fresh pastries, good coffee (this is Italy, after all), and local touches that reminded you where you are. I appreciated that they kept it authentic rather than trying to cater to every possible international preference.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Bologna isn’t as touristy as Rome or Florence, which is exactly why it’s so wonderful. Staying at this b&b puts you right in the middle of real Italian city life — you’ll hear locals chatting in the morning, smell incredible food from nearby trattorias, and feel like you’re actually experiencing the city rather than just visiting it. The 9.2 rating makes perfect sense when you realize you’re getting authentic Bologna at your doorstep, comfortable accommodations, and hosts who actually care about your experience. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying longer than planned, not because there’s nothing else to do, but because you’ve found your perfect base for exploring one of Italy’s most underrated cities.
Bologna’s hotels wrap guests in Renaissance art, rooftop lounges, and concierge-led Mortadella market tours.

Lovely stay in Bologna – Anthony from United Kingdom – 10 July 2025 (10/10)
Very clean and comfortable everything needed for a short stay. Easy access into the city center.Breakfast vouchers really good idea can add to it if needed and pay for extra. Good communication with host would stay again. Bologna a wonderful city to see and lots to do.
What could be improved: We didnt have any dislikes everything good for usA well-designed, comfortable apartment that felt like a small oasis during our stay in Bologna. – Iaroslav from Germany – 30 June 2025 (9/10)
The apartment exceeded our expectations — most B&Bs can be disappointing, but this one was genuinely great. Everything felt new and recently renovated. There was air conditioning, a fridge, a well-designed bathroom, and thoughtful details throughout. The window shutters helped block out the heat, and the place was easy to find. Communication was smooth, and we even got complimentary cold drinks and an early check-in, which absolutely saved us! It was a pleasure to come back here every day. We highly recommend it.
What could be improved: There isn’t a real breakfast — instead, you get a €5 voucher per person for a nearby bar, which only really covers a coffee and maybe a croissant (barely). On one of the days we didn’t receive the vouchers, though we didn’t contact the hosts — maybe they would’ve fixed it. That said, the bar itself was nice and classic Italian, and we enjoyed returning there.Wonderful !!! – Maree from Australia – 26 June 2025 (10/10)
Our apartment “1” had everything we needed. Comfortably slept. Great bathroom with good water pressure. Kitchenette with coffee maker, coffee, water and Coke Zero and fridge were a nice treat. Salt, pepper, oil and balsamic were utilised. The crockery and cutlery were all good. Nella helped us get in to our room “1” by sending instructions beforehand as I’m not traveling with wifi. An easy walk from the train !! Great breakfast at Cafe Marconi just across the street. I loved the drying rack underneath the crockery. Washing machine and dryer worked very well. Wifi fast and constant. Thanks Nella, you made our first trip to Bologna wonderful.
