Astoria Comfort Rooms Overview

First Impressions

Honestly, Astoria Comfort Rooms caught me off guard in the best way possible. You check in at Via Fratelli Rosselli 14, but the actual apartment are scattered around different spots in central Bologna — which sounds confusing but actually works brilliantly. I mean, you’re getting authentic neighborhood living rather than the typical hotel bubble experience. The four-star setup feels more like staying in a friend’s well-appointed apartment than a standard hotel, and there’s something refreshingly honest about that approach.

Location Magic

The location is genuinely spectacular — I can see why couples rate it so highly for romantic getaways. You’re literally in Bologna’s beating heart, surrounded by those gorgeous porticoes and medieval streets that make this city so special. What I love is how you can walk to Piazza Maggiore in about five minutes, but you’re also close enough to the university area to feel the city’s youthful energy. The train station is easily reachable too, which matters when you’re hauling luggage around cobblestone streets.

The Space Itself

Each room feels thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter corporate. Since the apartments are in different buildings, you might end up in a renovated medieval palazzo or a charming 19th-century townhouse — honestly, that’s part of the charm. The spaces are comfortable without trying too hard to impress, and you get that lived-in feeling that makes Bologna so appealing. Everything you need is there, from good Wi-Fi to proper storage space, plus those little touches that show someone actually cares about your stay.

Amenities and Facilities

The breakfast situation is actually quite impressive — they do continental, buffet-style, and they’ve got gluten-free options covered, which isn’t always a given in Italy. You know what’s really smart? They offer private parking, and if you’ve ever tried to navigate Bologna’s ZTL zones with a rental car, you’ll understand why that’s practically priceless. The staff seems to genuinely know the city well, so don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations beyond the obvious tourist spots. Each apartment includes a kitchenette equipped with essential appliances, making it easy to prepare light meals or snacks during your stay.

Why Guests Love It

There’s something about this place that just works — maybe it’s how you feel like a temporary Bolognese resident rather than a tourist passing through. The location score of 8.3 isn’t just numbers on a screen; it reflects how perfectly positioned you are to experience Bologna’s incredible food scene, from morning cappuccino at a neighborhood bar to late-night aperitivo in Quadrilatero. Sure, it’s not flashy or over-the-top, but that’s exactly why it feels so right in a city that values authenticity over show. You’ll find yourself coming back to your apartment base feeling like you’ve discovered something special that most visitors miss.

Reviews of Astoria Comfort Rooms

  • Clean rooms, good location next to station glad someone stayed with the bags while others checked in – Elaine from United Kingdom – 13 June 2025 (9/10)

Great location very clean and double glazed windows worked very well as it was very quiet although it was on a busy road.

What could be improved: Having to check in at Astoria hotel it was very hot when we arrived with many bags. Luckily someone stayed with the bags at cafe by the station while others checked .
In. It’s a bit too far with luggage at 32 degrees

  • Excellent room, complicated check-in – Stefano from Luxembourg – 15 April 2025 (8/10)

The room is literally across the street from the train station, which makes it very convenient for travelling.

What could be improved: The reception at which I picked up my keys is several city blocks away. This is not super convenient when one has luggage to haul.

  • Convenient! Would recommend to anyone needing to stay close to the train station. – Wendy from United States – 24 November 2024 (8/10)

Location was perfect! Very close to the train station which is what we needed. The extra twin bed was great for our adult daughter.
    Good communication.

What could be improved: The A/C wasn’t working due to the time of year but it was unseasonably warm which made it difficult to sleep.

  • Very good – Philip from United Kingdom – 13 October 2024 (8/10)

    Location to station
Best shower I have ever been in
    Clean and safe

What could be improved: Replenished of coffee pods etc

I had to buy some from local store

  • Nice modern hotel room in great location – Fasong from Australia – 29 September 2024 (9/10)

Location – right in front of Bologna Centrale station. And still walkable to the main center of Bologna. Room was clean and had all the facilities we needed (including a coffee maker and mini fridge). Size of room was good too. Good sound-proof windows (though as soon as you opened the windows you get all the traffic noise from outside).

What could be improved: The check in process and having to walk a bit further to a different location to check in and collect keys. The area immediately outside of the hotel was also a bit dodgy and I probably wouldn’t walk the streets alone at night.
Check out was 11am however housekeeping staff came in at 10:45am (and much to their surprise) to find we were still in the room.

  • Very good – John from United States – 27 September 2024 (8/10)

    Good price/value – Good location

What could be improved: I was at the building by the train station. The hallway lighting was poor. I had to use my iPhone light to find the room. Lights don't come on and then shut off too fast.

  • Good value for a short stay. – Rachel from United Kingdom – 22 September 2024 (8/10)

Very clean and comfortable. Great shower. Very close to the station

What could be improved: Lack of power sockets for fridge and coffee machone.

  • Austere and unfriendly – Christine from Australia – 19 September 2024 (7/10)

The bed was very comfortable and location to train station was excellent

What could be improved: Very austere, harsh lighting and uncomfortable chairs. The coffee maker either didn’t work or inoperative as there were no instructions which was infuriating. The hall light kept going out after only a few minutes leaving you in total darkness unless you danced around to activate the motion sensor. Minimal bedding with only a thin pillow. It felt very clinical. Walking 800 meters to the reception desk was really annoying. My 81 year old husband with health concerns couldn’t walk that far.

  • Good value for money – Geoff from Australia – 17 September 2024 (9/10)

Ease of access . Was in the old part of Bologna and over the road from the railway station.

What could be improved: I could not biol water on the coffee pod machine for a cup of tea.

  • Good – Mosiakina from Switzerland – 12 September 2024 (7/10)

great staff, helped in a difficult situation. the room is great, clean, new plumbing,
