Astoria Boutique Apartments Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Astoria Boutique Apartments for the first time, I’ll be honest — the check-in process at Via Fratelli Rosselli threw me off a bit. But once you understand that this four-star property spreads its apartments across different spots in the historic center, it actually makes perfect sense. You’re not getting a traditional hotel experience here, and that’s exactly the point. Each apartment feels like you’ve borrowed a friend’s place right in the heart of Bologna, which is honestly way better than being stuck in some generic hotel corridor.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s what I love about staying here — you’re literally in the real Bologna, not some touristy bubble. The apartments are scattered around Via De’ Buttieri and the surrounding medieval streets, which means you’ll wake up to the sound of locals heading to work, not tour buses. I mean, couples rate the location 8.0 for good reason. You can stumble to Piazza Maggiore in about three minutes, grab morning coffee at any of the tiny bars nearby, and actually feel like you belong in the city rather than just visiting it.
The Apartment Experience
Each room setup varies since these are actual apartments, but what struck me was how they’ve managed to keep that authentic Bologna character while adding modern touches. The spaces feel lived-in but polished — you know what I mean? Some units have small kitchenettes (perfect for storing those amazing mortadella purchases from Mercato di Mezzo), and the furnishings actually reflect the neighborhood’s personality rather than some corporate design manual. It’s boutique in the best sense, where every detail feels intentional but not overthought.
Breakfast and Practical Bits
The continental breakfast setup works well here, though honestly, with Bologna’s incredible café culture right outside your door, you might find yourself skipping it half the time. When I did eat there, the buffet had solid basics plus some local touches that showed they get their location. Parking is available privately, which — trust me — is a huge deal in Bologna’s historic center where most streets barely fit a Vespa, let alone a rental car. They’ve sorted out the logistics so you don’t have to stress about the practical stuff.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it solves the Bologna accommodation puzzle perfectly. You get the independence and space of an apartment rental with the reliability and service of a proper hotel. The location score of 8.2 isn’t just numbers — it reflects how you’ll actually feel staying here, integrated into the city rather than observing it from the outside. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about having your own little Bologna hideaway, complete with the sounds and rhythms of real neighborhood life just outside your window.
Bologna hotels keep food lovers close to fresh pasta workshops, balsamic tastings, and cobbled alley trattorie.

Reviews of Astoria Boutique Apartments
Besides the staff and way to pick up keys it was okay. – Maja from Poland – 9 July 2025 (7/10)
The apartment in reality looks the same as in the pictures. It is clean and well equipped.
What could be improved: The staff is not kind. At 11:00 we were demanded to check out by cleaning lady and when we did it they just did not care and started cleaning different apartments. Next problem is place where you pick up keys to get into the apartment meaning that you go to hotel which is around 2,5 km from the location that you will stay in. The staff at the reception of the hotel is not kind, we were not informed earlier how much will be city tax- this information wasn’t included anywhere. On booking we could see that taxes and charges are included in the price but then the receptionist told us that there is also fee to cover out of booking.A pleasant experience – Francioli from Romania – 10 April 2025 (9/10)
We had a good stay at Astoria Boutique Apartments. Just a heads up: the check-in and key collection are done at a different location, about 2.5 km away, but this is clearly mentioned in the listing and you also get messages about it a few days before arrival—so it's well communicated and not a surprise if you read the info before booking.
We stayed in the apartment with a bathtub, which was nicely decorated and comfortable. However, there are some ventilation issues and the bathtub is leaking a bit—it could definitely use some silicone sealing.
Aside from that, everything was clean, we were provided with plenty of towels for each day, and the apartment is fully equipped. It's also conveniently located close to public transport. Overall, a pleasant experience!Nice place! – Martina from Italy – 12 March 2025 (9/10)
The bathroom, the kitchen and all the design.
What could be improved: Nothing.Superb – Aiman from Italy – 19 January 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: The smell of smokingFair for the price – Marius from Romania – 19 October 2024 (8/10)
Spotless clean
What could be improved: Not situated in the central areaSuperb – Stuart from United Kingdom – 23 September 2024 (9/10)
The apartment was fantastic. Very clean and modern.
I definitely enjoyed staying with you.
What could be improved: Usb/plug socket for international conversion plug not near the bed. Would have been nice to have a side table next to the bed as I had no where to put a glass of water.Very nice stay, would stay again – Michelle from Australia – 22 September 2024 (9/10)
Location, quiet, comfortable
What could be improved: Shower door didn’t close properlyVery modern apartment. Insect problem needs to addressed!! – Alison from Australia – 21 September 2024 (9/10)
Very modern and clean
What could be improved: There was lots of very small black flying insects around the apartment. Appeared to mainly be coming from the bathroom.
This issue needs to fixed as soon as possible.
Only one power point in the kitchen for all the appliances!!Very good – Mateusz from Poland – 3 September 2024 (8/10)
Quality of the apartment
What could be improved: 1. Fact that the keys have to be picked up on the other side of town.
2. Extremely narrow streets to get there.Clean and well equipped apartment – Debbie from United Kingdom – 29 August 2024 (8/10)
The property was spotlessly clean, the kitchen was well equipped. The area was quiet and safe
What could be improved: It’s not a one bedroom apartment but a studio, didn’t matter to us as we were a family, but just to warn maybe two couples sharing.
