You know what hit me first about the Asinelli Luxury Apartment? It’s actually *on* Via Rizzoli – like, right in the thick of Bologna’s main pedestrian stretch where everyone’s wandering around with gelato and shopping bags. I mean, when they say central location, they’re not kidding around. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, and honestly, you can practically see the Two Towers from some of the windows (well, at least the Asinelli Tower, which is fitting given the name).

The apartment itself feels like someone’s stylish Bologna home rather than a typical hotel setup, which I actually loved. The restoration work is really well done – they’ve kept those gorgeous high ceilings and original architectural details you’d expect in a historic building, but everything feels fresh and modern where it counts. The kitchen is properly equipped too, not just some sad mini-fridge situation, which is perfect because you’re going to want to hit the Mercato delle Erbe (just around the corner) and cook with actual Parmigiano-Reggiano. Fair warning though – the building is old, so you’ll hear some street noise during the day, but it dies down after the shops close. The soundproofing is decent, just don’t expect library-quiet if you’re a super light sleeper.

What really sets this place apart is how it sits right in the university quarter without feeling touristy or sterile. You’ll have students grabbing aperitivo downstairs while actual Bolognesi are doing their evening passeggiata right outside your door. The whole Via del Pratello area for nightlife is maybe a ten-minute walk, and if you’re into the food scene (I mean, you’re in Bologna, so you better be), you’re surrounded by some legendary spots. Osteria del Sole is practically next door, and you can walk to Mercato di Mezzo in about thirty seconds.

The check-in was smooth – they actually meet you at the apartment rather than some distant reception desk, which I appreciated after dragging luggage through those narrow medieval streets. Parking is… well, it’s Bologna’s city center, so forget about it unless you enjoy paying premium rates at Piazza VIII Agosto. But honestly, once you’re settled in here, you won’t need a car anyway. The train station is a straight shot down Via dell’Indipendenza if you’re doing day trips, and everything else worth seeing is walkable.

The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s that rare combination of being right where you want to be without sacrificing comfort or style. Plus, there’s something genuinely satisfying about staying somewhere that feels authentically Bolognese rather than like a corporate hotel that could be anywhere. Just book early if you’re planning to visit during university season or the autumn truffle months, because places like this in Bologna don’t stay available long.

  It was immaculately cleaned very well provisioned and in an excellent location! The beds are super comfy, and you cannot hear any noise from the main road. It’s such a lovely property.
  
  What could be improved: The only small issue is the internal soundproofing. I barely slept the first night as there were people coming and going in the building, and you can hear every movement. Other than that, it was wonderful!
