Alessandrini Apartment alla Finestrella by Wonderful Italy Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of Bologna apartments, and the Alessandrini place on Via Alessandrini actually surprised me in a good way. The name’s a bit of a mouthful – “Alessandrini Apartment alla Finestrella by Wonderful Italy” – but honestly, once you’re there, you just call it home for however long you’re staying. The building has that solid, lived-in feel that Bologna does so well, and the little window (that’s what “finestrella” means) they reference in the name actually frames the street view quite nicely.
What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to keep the authentic Italian apartment vibe while making it work for travelers. You know what I mean – some places try too hard to be hotels and lose that local flavor, while others are so “authentic” you can’t figure out how to work the shower. This one hits that sweet spot. The kitchen actually has proper equipment (I made decent pasta there, which says something), and the whole setup feels like staying at a well-organized Italian friend’s place rather than some sterile rental. The 4-star rating feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s genuinely comfortable and thoughtfully arranged.
The location is honestly what sold me on coming back. Via Alessandrini sits in this pocket of Bologna where you’re close enough to walk to the historic center – I mean, you can reach Piazza Maggiore in maybe 15 minutes on foot – but you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds right outside your door. There’s a little alimentari around the corner where the owner actually remembers your face after a couple days, and the morning routine of locals heading to work gives you that “living like a local” feeling without trying too hard. The 7.7 rating makes sense to me because while everything works well and the space is solid, it’s not going to blow you away with fancy amenities or stunning views. But sometimes that’s exactly what you want – a reliable, comfortable base where you can spread out your stuff, cook when you feel like it, and feel settled rather than just passing through. If you’re planning to actually explore Bologna rather than just Instagram your hotel room, this kind of place lets you do that without breaking the bank or sacrificing comfort.

Reviews of Alessandrini Apartment alla Finestrella by Wonderful Italy
Pleasant – Ernesto from Spain – 13 June 2025 (6/10)
Location is really good, , bedrooms were big.
What could be improved: Only one bathroom, not enough toilet paper for the time we spent.Location was good and easy to find. For us it was very noisy til early morning may suit younger crowd with a travelling – Maureen from Australia – 21 May 2025 (7/10)
Central location to everything. Easy to find.
What could be improved: Shower rose did not work correctly. Understand location is above the restaurant is noisy till all hours of the morning. Perhaps describe it as a vibrant area. Water temperature regulation was difficult. Shower was mouldy in certain areas around the grout. Rooms were quite light at night perhaps some curtains to darken.Very good – Andreea from Romania – 14 April 2025 (8/10)
The bathroom needs improvements
Dejlig lejlighed nær centrum – Agnese from Denmark – 9 April 2025 (9/10)
God beliggenhed, store værelser. 2 sæt nøgler
What could be improved: Tv virker ikke. ( mindre betydning) slidt køkkenA cosy apartment in a fantastic location – Aimee from Australia – 27 January 2025 (9/10)
Location is excellent -surrounded by great bars (inc. an excellent one downstairs!), restaurants, a supermarket and a short walk to the main piazza. The apartment has great heating (very important for Australians visiting Europe in January) and was wonderfully cozy.
What could be improved: Not a ‘did’t like’ per se, but I didn’t notice when I looked at the property photos that it doesn’t have anywhere to sit but at the dining table.Good place for couple of days – Erika from Hungary – 28 June 2024 (8/10)
The location is perfect, close to everything
What could be improved: One more bathroom will be better for 6 personIf ı come to Bologna again, I’d prefer this house again 🤗 – Kerim from Turkey – 21 June 2024 (10/10)
Location was perfect 😍 beds were really comfortable, bedlinens were bright light which were really clean. Home was very big, perfect for families, there were 3 real bedrooms with double beds. Air conditions works good. There was a car park which was very close to house and out of ZTL area (it is very difficult in italy 😄)
What could be improved: Unfortunately dishwasher machine is a must for such a big house 🙁 there were not any cooking stuffs like sugar, salt or olive oil. Staff warned us about the lift, if we had a problem. But we used for the luggages and didn’t have any problem.Good location but fairly basic in some ways – Belinda from United Kingdom – 21 April 2024 (7/10)
It was well located and we had 3 separate bedrooms which is what we needed.
What could be improved: The shower was poor. Low water pressure and an old shower head that needed replacing. Given that the main requirement are a bed and a shower when you stay somewhere, this was a disappointment. Not having any tea towels was surprising.Superb – Bronwyn from Australia – 29 March 2024 (9/10)
Great location large rooms plenty of space for 6 Adults
Exceptional – Teresa from United Kingdom – 8 August 2023 (10/10)
Great location. Really helpful letting us check-in early as we arrived early.
