Affittacamere Angelica Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Affittacamere Angelica on Via Irnerio, you immediately get that feeling you’re staying somewhere special — not because it’s flashy, but because it feels so authentically Bolognese. This four-star property sits right in the heart of Bologna, and I mean literally in the thick of everything that makes this city tick. The building itself has that classic Italian charm you hope for, with shuttered windows and that warm, lived-in character that tells you this place has stories.
Location Magic
Honestly, the location here is pretty much perfect — couples especially seem to get this, rating it 9.5 for romantic getaways, and I totally understand why. You’re a five-minute stroll from Piazza Maggiore, which means you can actually pop back to your room for a quick rest between morning sightseeing and evening aperitivo. The university district is right at your doorstep too, so there’s this wonderful energy of students and locals mixing with tourists. You know what I love most? You can walk to those famous porticoes without dealing with any tourist bus chaos — just pure Bologna unfolding around you.
The Accommodation Experience
The rooms at Affittacamere Angelica strike that sweet spot between comfort and character. They’re not trying to be ultra-modern or anything — instead, you get thoughtfully designed spaces that feel like a stylish Italian friend’s guest room. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are well-appointed without being over the top. What really impressed me was how quiet everything stays despite being in such a central location — good windows make all the difference when you want to sleep in after a night exploring Bologna’s incredible food scene.
Neighborhood Discoveries
Being on Via Irnerio puts you in this perfect position to discover Bologna like a local. There’s this fantastic little restaurant just around the corner that serves the most incredible tortellini — the kind of place you’d never find if you were staying out by the train station. The morning walk to get coffee becomes part of the experience here, with university students heading to class and shop owners opening up for the day. I actually found some of my favorite Bologna moments just wandering the streets within a few blocks of the hotel, stumbling across hidden courtyards and tiny wine bars that don’t make it into guidebooks.
Why Guests Love It
That 8.3 rating really reflects what this place does well — it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, but rather focusing on being an excellent base for exploring one of Italy’s most underrated cities. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood and can point you toward experiences that feel authentic rather than touristy. You’re paying for location and character here, and honestly, it delivers on both. When you can walk to incredible restaurants, beautiful architecture, and vibrant street life while coming home to a comfortable, well-run place that feels distinctly Bolognese — well, that’s exactly what a good city break should be about.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Bologna before Motorshow week revs up piazza showcases and supercar parades.

What could be improved: N/AGreat location, clean, but very thin walls. – Stacy from United States – 3 May 2024 (7/10)
I liked that there was coffee and water available at no cost anytime you'd like it during your stay. The room was very clean and spacious.
What could be improved: The walls were very thin. I could here everything. Everyone's cough, sneeze, etc. I literally thought that the person blowing their nose was standing in my room. Also, the AC was not in working order.Great clean place in a perfect location. – Andrey from Bulgaria – 22 April 2024 (8/10)
The place was nice, clean and had everything we needed. The host made sure the clean each day, change our towels and make our bed which was more than expected.
What could be improved: Before arrival the host kept texting us in Italian, making the conversation uneasy, as I had to copy- paste and translate each message. Upon arriving and meeting the host she kept speaking in Italian even though we had explained we do not understand a word. Finally she opened a translator and we managed to understand her, but this definitely felt odd.Great place – Stefan from Netherlands – 1 March 2024 (9/10)
Nice room with comfy beds, high ceilings and a classic but clean interior. Views were great. The host couldn't speak any English but it was amazing how she really wanted to put you at ease. We talked with translations on our phones and she was very very helpful.
What could be improved: I didn't know if the shower had an extraction fan, but there is a window. Which, weirdly, seems to be shared with the neighboring room? Don't know for sure but it was a little puzzling.Very good – Mariana from Portugal – 9 February 2024 (8/10)
Perfect location, walking distance from the center and the train station. The WC was amazing, with a great shower, and everything was very clean! Great entrance space with a lot of complementary snacks!
What could be improved: You can listen to some noise coming from the other rooms.
