I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name “Wooden design Apartment by Wonderful Italy,” I was expecting something pretty basic, maybe even a bit cheesy. But walking into this place on via Galliera completely changed my mind. The wooden elements aren’t just slapped on for show; they’re actually thoughtfully integrated throughout the space in a way that feels warm and sophisticated, not like some Alpine lodge trying too hard.

The location is what really sold me though. Via Galliera is this perfect little street that puts you right in the thick of Bologna’s historic center without being on one of those tourist-packed main drags where you can’t sleep past 7 AM. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but honestly, I found myself loving the quieter side streets even more. There’s this fantastic osteria just around the corner – locals pack it every night, which you know means the tortellini is legit. The apartment itself has this solid 8.3 rating, and I get why. The wooden design elements create this cozy atmosphere that makes you want to actually hang out in the space rather than just crash there between sightseeing. I mean, the beds are comfortable (always my first concern), but there’s also this living area with exposed beams and warm wood tones that somehow makes even instant coffee feel more civilized.

What surprised me most was how quiet it stays at night, considering you’re smack in the middle of everything. The windows are well-insulated, and via Galliera doesn’t get the late-night foot traffic of some nearby streets. Parking is… well, it’s Bologna, so forget about driving if you can help it. But the train station is close enough that you can walk with luggage without wanting to die, and honestly, once you’re there, you’ll want to explore on foot anyway. The whole Quadrilatero area with its incredible markets and food scene is right there – I probably gained five pounds just from the mortadella tastings alone. Check-in was surprisingly smooth too, no standing around waiting for someone to show up with keys, which has definitely happened to me before with apartment rentals in Italy.

  1. Location was amazing. Walking distance to anywhere in town.
  
  2. Close proximity to coffee in the morning to the grocery store to any major piazzas.
  
  3. There was an elevator and the apartment was pretty new.

  1. The dishwasher was broken. We made dinner one night and we didn’t want to be doing dishes.
  
  2. The second night in the apartment the heat went out. We were not able to reach anyone even though the website guidelines say reachable from 9 am to 9 pm. We had to wear sweaters and socks to bed.
  
  3. There were blood stains on one of the bedsheet.
  
  4. If you’re thinking of staying then bring your own condiments such as salt, oil etc etc because nothing is provided.

  The location was the best thing, close to train station, supermarkets, shops and restaurants.
  The property was nice and clean, the rooms were spacious and cosy. Kitchen was fully equipped bar the dishwasher not working.
  
  What could be improved: Natural daylight was a bit limited due to the way the windows opened.
  There was only 1 toilet roll provided for 6ppl and no spare in the bathroom.

  What could be improved: Got stuck in the lift for an hour and had to call 999. Not fun. Electrics in general not good. Some work some don't. Was fine as when stuck we didn't mind but could have been a problem for some visitors. Called host but was 1am so understandably did not respond. Thank goodness we had Italian to call for support. Otherwise the place was lovely but they need to fix the electrics!

  Location was good. 15 min walk from Bologna Centrale. 5 min walk from the Piazza.The apartment was spacious for 4 adults.
  
  What could be improved: The air conditioning did not vent into bedroom with the twin beds and does not circulate to the loft. There was a broken fan left in the bedroom. There isnt any dish rack if you wash dishes nor are there any towels to wipe the kitchen counters. The bathroom lacked any hooks to hang towels. And the shower took a bit to heat up. The hairdryer plug would not fit into the outlet in the bathroom.

  The apartment can accommodate up to six people.
  
  What could be improved: If we have to name one or two things: the dishwasher was out of order. And one of the electrical shutters was not working properly. Other than that it was a perfect location for a family of three!
  
  If you are dependent of a wheelchair there is an elevator. But the entrance of the apartment has three steps.

  The location was perfect! It was right in the city centre with ,cafes , shops, supermarkets and restaurants all within a 5 minute walk. The host was very helpful. I highly recommend.
