Serenity, Bologna by Short Holidays Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Serenity, Bologna by Short Holidays on Via Jacopo Barozzi, you immediately get the sense this is one of those places locals actually know about. It’s tucked into what’s honestly one of the best neighborhoods in Bologna — I mean, there’s a reason this four-star property scored a 9.3 for location. The building itself has that understated Italian elegance that doesn’t scream “tourist hotel,” which I actually appreciated. The attention to detail in the facade and entrance sets the tone for what awaits inside.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re genuinely in the heart of things without feeling like you’re trapped in a tourist bubble. The area around Via Jacopo Barozzi puts you within easy walking distance of Bologna’s main attractions, but you know what? It still feels residential enough that you’ll see actual Bolognese people going about their daily lives. There’s something refreshing about stepping out for morning coffee and not being surrounded entirely by other travelers with guidebooks. The neighborhood truly captures the authentic spirit of the city.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run four-star place — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed without being overly fussy. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are modern enough that you won’t miss home. What struck me most was how quiet everything was, despite being so centrally located. I mean, Bologna can get pretty lively, especially in the evenings, but somehow this place manages to keep the noise at bay. The soundproofing is genuinely impressive for an urban location.
Practical Perks
One thing that’ll save you some headache — they actually have private parking on site, which is honestly a godsend in Bologna’s historic center. Anyone who’s tried to navigate Italian city centers with a rental car will understand why this matters. The staff seems to genuinely know the area well too, so when you ask for directions or recommendations, you get real answers instead of the usual tourist trap suggestions. It’s those small touches that make a difference when you’re trying to experience a place authentically. The convenience factor here is genuinely valuable.
Why Guests Love It
I can see why couples rate this place so highly — there’s something about the whole setup that just works for a romantic getaway. Maybe it’s the intimate scale of the property, or the fact that you can easily wander Bologna’s charming streets hand-in-hand after dinner. The 8.6 guest rating feels about right to me; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers consistently on what matters most. You’ll leave feeling like you actually experienced Bologna rather than just passing through it, and honestly, that’s worth more than any fancy amenity. This property truly understands what modern travelers seek.
To book a hotel in Bologna during university graduations, visitors plan ahead to balance celebratory piazza toasts with rooftop aperitivi.

Nice one bedroom apartment that can sleep four. It is a short walk to many of the attractions in Bologna. The kitchen is always an asset for us as we made dinner in the room.
Poor – Salsabeel from Palestinian Territory – 25 June 2023 (3/10)
The location was the only good thing about this apartment
What could be improved: The AC unit does not work well. It was very hot in the apartment. The price was very high for the small space. The floor was dirty! I walked with white socks and they turned black after a while. Message for the host: please clean your AC unit filter!Matteo Marchi is very caring host. Hi help us immediately in all cases. – Oleksandr from Ukraine – 28 October 2022 (10/10)
Fully equipped, nice location. Highly recommended.

What could be improved: Smells like moldGood for a short stay (avoid summer) – Maria from Chile – 6 August 2022 (8/10)
Good location.
What could be improved: The beds were not so comfy and wasn’t soap for the dishes, but for a short stay is ok. The worst was no aircon in the bedroom, in summer can be very hard to sleep. We couldn’t open the window because the street was very noisy. Other than that, all good.
