It’s tucked right on Via Galliera, which honestly is one of those streets that locals use as a shortcut but tourists often miss. Fourth floor, so you’re getting some decent views without feeling like you’re perched in some sterile tower.

The apartment setup is actually pretty clever – it’s got that residential feel where you can spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase, but they’ve clearly put thought into the details that matter. The kitchen isn’t just for show (I mean, you’re in Bologna, you’ll want to hit Mercato delle Erbe and actually cook something), and the whole space feels lived-in rather than staged. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – Via Galliera has some foot traffic during the day, but it’s not one of those streets where you’re dealing with late-night bar crowds or delivery trucks at dawn.

Location-wise, this is where it gets interesting. You’re maybe a seven-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but – and this is key – you’re positioned so you can duck down toward the university area or head up toward the train station without crossing the main tourist chaos. There’s this little osteria, Al Cambio, literally around the corner that I stumbled onto my second night, and honestly, it’s the kind of place where you’ll see the same faces at the bar every evening. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me because it’s not trying to be flashy or revolutionary – it’s just solidly good at what it does. Small things matter here: the shower pressure is actually decent, there’s enough counter space in the bathroom, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t randomly cut out when you’re trying to work. I stayed during shoulder season in October, and the heating worked without that weird radiator clanking you get in some older buildings. If you’re coming during summer, the fourth floor thing might be a consideration since Bologna can get pretty steamy, but the windows open wide and you get some cross-breeze action going.
