M.G Home lives up to its name too; this place actually feels like you’re crashing at a well-appointed friend’s place rather than checking into some sterile hotel. The 4-star rating isn’t just about thread count here – it’s in those thoughtful touches that make you think “oh, someone who actually travels designed this.” You know what I mean? Like having proper bedside lighting and enough outlets where you actually need them.

The location is honestly brilliant if you know Bologna at all. You’re tucked into this quiet residential pocket in the San Donato area, but – and this is key – you can walk to the train station in about 15 minutes, maybe 20 if you’re dragging luggage. I mean, that’s huge because Bologna Centrale connects you to literally everywhere, but you’re not dealing with the chaos and noise of staying right next to it. The morning sounds are more “neighborhood coming to life” than “tourist madness,” which I personally love. There’s this little bar around the corner where locals grab their morning espresso, and the woman behind the counter started recognizing me after day two – that kind of neighborhood feel is rare when you’re staying somewhere temporarily.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between authentic Bologna living and having everything you need as a visitor. The apartment-style setup means you can grab groceries and actually cook if you want (the nearby Conad is perfectly adequate), but you’re also a short tram ride from the historic center when you want to dive into the medieval streets and incredible food scene. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything just… works. The Wi-Fi is solid, the heating keeps up with Bologna’s damp winter chill, and there’s actually decent sound insulation, which matters more than you’d think in Italian cities. I slept well, woke up feeling like I belonged somewhere rather than just passing through, and honestly found myself planning my next Bologna trip before I’d even left. That’s the mark of a place that gets it right.

  Piacevole soggiorno, appartamento è dotato di ogni servizio, molto luminoso e silenzioso nonostante la posizione centrale, il proprietario gentile e disponibile per tutta la durata del soggiorno, stanze molto grandi e ben arredate con capienti armadi per lunghi soggiorni, pratico e utile il posto auto interno, colazione abbondante. Consigliato.

  What could be improved: Second floor without an elevator. We arrived when it was 35°C outside, and the apartment was extremely hot. One bedroom had no air conditioning at all, and the other had a weak one, or it just couldn't cool the room in time. The worst part was the extra bed for the fifth person. We had booked proper beds to rest after a long journey, but unfortunately… Breakfast consisted of long-lasting biscuits, which I wouldn't even call a breakfast. We had to go out in the morning for a fresh breakfast. One room had a strange smell, and everything felt old. Upon arrival, we received the wrong code, and the new code had to be resolved over the phone.

  The air conditioning from the kitchen definitely won't cool the bedroom, not to mention it's noisy.
  Let every guest form their own opinion. I have over 500 stays on Booking and I always try to rate fairly. I even noticed that one guest has already complained about the extra bed. I ordered a bed, not an extra bed! You really can't sleep on that! The first code at the time of arrival didn't work, I tried it several times! The second one worked right away 🙂. The apartment was very warm, you knew when I was arriving. Sorry, but this isn't worthy of a fantastic rating! The building is very old, there are bars on the doors, the parking lot is very cramped, the breakfast is basic, and the air conditioning is poor. Not every guest will write a fair review, but they simply won't come back next time. I always rate fairly, believe me.

  The host was lovely, left us loads of breakfast goodies, was very helpful and friendly and always responded quickly.
  
  What could be improved: Wouldn't reccomend for anyone with children (unless they are SUPER quiet) or anyone needing to leave early in the morning as the downstairs neighbour is psychotic. Works nights Apparently at a hospital and did not appreciate us being up from 6 am on a Saturday morning.

  A very nice property with a good communicative host. The rooms were very clean, most of the basic things are there . Overall a good place to stay .
