You know what hit me first about La Vista? The fact that it’s tucked away on Via Marzabotto – and I mean that in the best possible way. This isn’t some tourist trap hotel where you’re dodging selfie sticks on your way to breakfast. You’re actually in a proper Bologna neighborhood, the kind where you hear Italian conversations drifting from apartment windows and catch the scent of someone’s nonna making ragù at 10 AM (which, honestly, made me question all my life choices).

The hotel itself feels like someone took a classic Italian building and gave it just enough modern touches without losing its soul. I’m talking about those beautiful high ceilings and original floors that creak in exactly the right way – not the annoying midnight kind of creak, but the “you’re staying somewhere with actual history” kind. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully designed rather than just pretty. Like, the lighting actually works when you’re trying to read, and there’s enough space to open your suitcase without performing gymnastics. Small thing, but the shower pressure was legitimately impressive – you’d be surprised how many four-star places mess that up.

What really sets La Vista apart though is how it sits in the city. You’re about a fifteen-minute walk to Piazza Maggiore, which sounds far until you realize you’re strolling past local bars and that amazing salumeria on Via dell’Indipendenza where locals actually shop. The area gets pretty quiet at night (perfect for sleeping), but during the day there’s this gentle hum of real Bologna life happening around you. The staff – and I mean this – seem to genuinely enjoy helping rather than just going through the motions. They’ll point you toward the good aperitivo spots that aren’t overrun with tourists, or explain why you should absolutely try the tortellini at that place around the corner that doesn’t even have a sign. That 9.7 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen – it’s the kind of place where you find yourself already planning your next Bologna trip before you’ve even checked out.

  Location close to public transport surrounded by green space, bars (cafes) and restaurants.
  Balcony for watching sunset with aperitivo.
  Very good facilities.
  Bologna is such a great central location to visit Florence, Venice, Ferrara by the great Italian rail system.
  Better still there was plenty to see and do in Bologna.
  We were sad to leave.
  Paolo was very accommodating and promptly looked after us when we had a small issue with the dishwasher
