Everyday Apartments Torre Medioevale Overview

So, Torre Medioevale – honestly, the name tells you exactly what you’re getting. This place sits in an actual medieval tower right in the heart of Bologna’s old center, and I mean, you can literally feel the history in those thick stone walls. The moment you walk up Via dell’Unione (which is basically this narrow cobblestone street that feels like you’re in a movie), you’ll spot the tower rising up between all these other ancient buildings. It’s wild – you’re staying in something that’s been standing here since the Middle Ages, but inside it’s been converted into these surprisingly modern apartments.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without dealing with tourist chaos. You’re maybe a three-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, which means you can stumble back after dinner without navigating Bologna’s maze of porticoes in the dark (trust me, even locals get turned around sometimes). But here’s the thing – Via dell’Unione is just quiet enough that you won’t have drunk university students keeping you up all night, which… well, this is Bologna, so that’s saying something. The apartments themselves are pretty spacious, especially by Italian standards, and they’ve done a nice job keeping some of the original character while making sure you’ve got all the modern stuff you actually need. The kitchenettes are surprisingly well-equipped – I mean, if you’re the type who likes to grab fresh produce from the morning market at Mercato delle Erbe and cook at home, you can actually do that here.

What really gets me is how they’ve managed to maintain that medieval atmosphere without making you feel like you’re camping. The stone walls keep things naturally cool in summer (which is a blessing because Bologna gets seriously hot), and there’s something almost meditative about the way sound travels through the building. You’ll hear the gentle echo of footsteps in the courtyard, church bells from nearby San Petronio, but it never feels noisy – just… alive, you know? The staff actually knows the neighborhood, too, which makes a difference. They’ll point you toward the good aperitivo spots that aren’t overrun with tourists, or tell you which gelateria the locals actually go to (hint: it’s not the one with the longest line).

Parking is… well, it’s what you’d expect in a medieval city center, so honestly just take the train if you can. But if you’re here to really experience Bologna – the food, the energy, those incredible covered walkways – this place puts you right in the middle of it all while giving you a genuine piece of the city’s history to sleep in. The 8.6 rating makes sense; it’s not trying to be a luxury hotel, it’s just a really solid, characterful place to stay that feels authentic to where you are.

Reviews of Everyday Apartments Torre Medioevale

  • Exceptional – Stefan from Austria – 7 July 2025 (10/10)

    What could be improved: Nichts

  • Sehr gute Lage, eine etwas andere Unterkunft im positiven Sinne 🙂 – Juergen from Switzerland – 4 July 2025 (10/10)

Hatten am Anfang Schwierigkeiten bzgl. Zugang zum Appartement. Es wurde aber sehr schnell reagiert

  • Team building de fete – Gabriela from Romania – 23 June 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: Am mers in luna iunie iar in una din cele 3 camere, neavând aer condiționat, a fost cam cald .In celelalte două camere cu aer condiționat a fost bine. Terasa de la ultimul nivel care apare in poză- nu există. Am avut doar un minibalconaș la una din camere.

  • Once in a lifetime experience. – Daniel from United States – 8 May 2025 (9/10)

The view was breathtaking. Book the tower. It’s a once in a lifetime experience. I’d do it again. But prepare for leg day every day. Lots of stairs.

What could be improved: Alas, there is no washing machine. For the price, it would be nice. Coffee was among the missing. Have mercy. All I needed was one day’s worth to survive. The neighborhood is in the university section of the city. It looks sketch but it’s safe. If you need 3 separate beds, tell the host. He assumed my mom and I slept in the same bed. Weird.

  • Great quirky flat close to everything! – Aleksandra from United Kingdom – 10 March 2025 (8/10)

The location was great. The quirkiness of the flat was great and that roof terrace just did the trick.

What could be improved: We went in March and it was cold. I slept in the living room and it was freezing because there are windows lining up the living room wall and no shutters on them. The heating was switched off during the night. I did mention to the owner and he suggested I turn the aircon on (on heating). I spent an hour or two figuring out how to turn it on and after a while it started working. Then the next day the aircon heating moved from heating to cooling and again, I spent an hour to switch it off. (Btw I can handle a remote). Then the day was sunny and warm and we didn’t need the heating for the last night. That was the only issue with it.

  • Exceptional – Paul from New Zealand – 2 November 2024 (10/10)

We loved the fun layout of the property. The location was excellent, close to the vibrant university area. The kids were so excited with the loft room and the rooftop balcony.
