It’s right there on Strada Maggiore – and if you don’t know Bologna well, this is basically the main artery that cuts through the historic center. You’re literally walking distance from everything that matters: Piazza Maggiore is maybe eight minutes on foot, and the university quarter is right there too. What I love about this location is that it’s busy enough to feel alive (you’ll hear the gentle hum of Bolognese life outside your window) but it’s not like staying above a nightclub or anything.

The building itself has this authentic Bologna feel – you know, those warm terracotta colors and architectural details that make you remember you’re in one of Italy’s most beautiful cities. Honestly, the 4-star rating feels about right. It’s polished and comfortable without being stuffy, and the staff actually knows the neighborhood. I mean, they’ll tell you which osteria around the corner serves the best tortellini in brodo, not just hand you a generic tourist map. The rooms are well-appointed – good beds, decent-sized bathrooms, and that reliable Italian attention to keeping things clean and functional. I stayed there during both summer and a rainy October week, and the heating/cooling actually worked properly, which… well, anyone who’s traveled in Italy knows that’s not always a given.

What really sets Casa Bacìomari apart is how it manages to feel both elegant and livable. The common areas have this relaxed sophistication – you can sit in the lobby with a coffee and your laptop without feeling like you’re disrupting some museum-like atmosphere. And here’s something practical: if you’re driving, ask about parking when you book. Bologna’s city center is a maze of ZTL zones (restricted traffic areas), and you definitely don’t want to figure that out on arrival day. The 8.4 rating seems fair to me – it’s a solid choice that delivers on what it promises without any major surprises, good or bad. You’re paying for location, comfort, and that particular Italian hospitality that makes you feel welcomed rather than just processed. If you’re the type who wants to experience Bologna like someone who lives there rather than just passing through, this place gets it right.

  The apartment is deceptively nice but very dark.
  Very large room effectively a studio which has been split with a partial wall to distinguish between the bedroom and living room.
  Kitchen adequate and functional.
  Bathroom looks nicely tiled with good shower.
  Plenty of hanging space with a lot of hangers.
  Fantastic location cost to Piazza Aldrovandi, Univ district, and Carrefour next door. Fairly quiet considering a busy street address.
  
  What could be improved: Lack of attention to detail by mgmt co.
  Fancy coffee machine had incorrect pods. Bought the correct pods only to find the machine didn't work at all. Thankfully there was a bialetti to use
  Pans had been quickly washed and were still dirty and wet.
  Linens and towels of poor quality considering the price point of this apartment.
  All of the pillows and duvets in the cupboard did not smell fresh or clean.

  The apartment it's in an amazing location, right next to the centre. It was quiet at night and comfortable, we had a good stay. It had everything needed for a few days although it could do with a little renovation.
  
  What could be improved: The communication with the host was slow and not helpful. He didn't come to open the main door, we managed to access because a neighbour came in and told us where to get the keys from (unrelated person to the apartment). The wifi password was wrong too, and took 24h to get the right one. The apartment could do with renewing and the heating wasn't great.

  Big apartment, we really liked how the kitchen had everything you need and their was a smart tele for netflix etc. The host was very welcoming and friendly and check in was simple. The location was also very central.

  Location wise it was great! The appartement was super spacious, with tons of amenities. The bathroom was great, everything clean, and the bed was super comfy. If you're not sharing beds, bare in mind that the sofa-bed was not as comfy, but to be expected! Definitely a place to easily recommend!
  
  What could be improved: When we arrived due to a problem with the cleaning service provider they didn't have the appartement ready. However, after contacting the owner, everything was solved.
