You’re close enough to walk to the centro storico in about 15 minutes (I timed it), but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds and restaurant noise at night. The Pescarola area has this authentic neighborhood vibe – there’s a fantastic little osteria just down the street where locals actually eat, and the morning market nearby is where real Bolognesi do their shopping. Plus, and this is key for anyone flying in, you’re practically on a straight shot to the airport. The bus connections are solid, and if you’re driving, well… parking in central Bologna is basically a nightmare, so being slightly outside the ZTL zone is actually a blessing.

What really impressed me was how the place manages to feel both comfortable and authentic. The 9.7 rating isn’t just inflated reviews – the attention to detail is genuinely there. The kitchen is properly equipped (not just a hotplate and a prayer like some places), which matters if you want to grab ingredients from Mercato delle Erbe and actually cook something decent. The garden catches morning sun perfectly, so having coffee out there became my daily ritual. And honestly, for a 4-star place, it doesn’t feel pretentious or overly polished – it just feels like staying at a well-appointed Italian home. The host clearly knows their stuff too; they gave me restaurant recommendations that were spot-on, including this tiny trattoria that I never would have found otherwise. If you’re the type who wants to experience Bologna like someone who actually lives here rather than just checking boxes on a tourist itinerary, this place gets it right.
