You know what struck me first about Aldrovandi Luxury Suites? It’s tucked away in this gorgeous piazza that most tourists completely miss – honestly, I walked past it twice before realizing I’d found the place. The entrance is on the first floor (primo piano, as they say), and there’s something wonderfully residential about the whole setup. You’re not walking into some massive hotel lobby with marble everywhere; instead, you’re stepping into what feels like a beautifully restored Bolognese apartment building.

The location is actually pretty brilliant once you get your bearings. Piazza Aldrovandi sits in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to the university area to feel the city’s energy, but far enough from the main tourist drag that you can actually sleep at night. I mean, Bologna can get pretty lively – especially when the students are out – but this little corner stays relatively peaceful. The apartment-style suites really deliver on space, which is huge when you’re dealing with Italian city accommodations. Each one feels like you’re borrowing a friend’s place rather than staying in a hotel room, complete with proper kitchenettes and living areas where you can actually spread out your stuff.

What really won me over was how the staff seemed to know the neighborhood inside and out. They pointed me toward this fantastic little osteria just around the corner (definitely not in any guidebook) and gave me the kind of walking directions that only locals know – you know, “turn left at the pharmacy with the green awning” type stuff. The 8.8 rating makes total sense when you experience the personal attention. Sure, it’s not going to have the same amenities as those big chain hotels near the train station, but honestly? That’s exactly why it works. The building itself has character – those high ceilings and original details that remind you you’re actually in Italy, not some international business hotel that could be anywhere. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle (welcome to Bologna’s historic center), but they’ll help you figure out the closest options. I’d definitely come back, especially if I was staying more than just a night or two – having that kitchen and extra space makes all the difference when you want to pick up some of that incredible mortadella from the market and actually enjoy it properly.

  Everything was PERFECT!
  The room was perfect. Big and clean room, comfortable bed, good quality towels, good quality shampoo/conditioner in the bathroom
  We moved here from a 4-star hotel , and this room was much nicer to stay than the 4 stars hotel.
  We also enjoyed a tasty Italian dinner at the owner restaurant.
  The room is located in a central area of Bologna and is perfect to enjoy the beauty of the old city in a short visit.
  Paula, the owner, is a wonderful, interesting, and kindly woman. She helped us order a taxi to the airport.
  
  What could be improved: The stairs are a little bit difficult to climb with heavy luggage.

  It was a huge room and well renovated flat. The bed was really comfortable. Everything was done lovely with nice details to feel comfortable and cozy and still stylish
  
  What could be improved: The water from the shower spilled onto the floor, making it very slippery and wet, which was quite dangerous to walk on. At night, it was hard to sleep because of the noise from the bars downstairs and drunk people, even though the windows were relatively well insulated.
