You know what struck me first about 051 Room & Breakfast? It’s tucked away on Via San Vitale in this perfect spot where you’re technically in the thick of Bologna’s historic center, but it doesn’t feel touristy at all. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Two Towers – but instead of being surrounded by souvenir shops, you’ve got actual neighborhood life happening around you. There’s this fantastic little osteria two doors down that I never would’ve found if I’d stayed in one of those big chain places near the station.

The building itself has that understated Bologna elegance – you know, those warm terracotta colors that somehow look both ancient and timeless. Inside, honestly, it feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place than a hotel. The rooms have this lived-in sophistication (if that makes sense) with original architectural details mixed in with modern touches that actually work. My room had these gorgeous old wooden beams overhead, and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious – which, let’s be real, can be hit or miss in these historic Italian buildings. The breakfast situation is solid too, though it’s more of a continental spread than anything elaborate. But the coffee? Actually good espresso, not that watery hotel stuff.

What really won me over was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the city. When I mentioned I was looking for authentic tortellini, the guy at the front desk didn’t just point me toward the obvious tourist spots – he drew me a little map to this family place in the Quadrilatero market area where locals actually eat. Plus, they sorted out parking for me (which in Bologna’s city center is honestly a minor miracle), and the whole check-in process was refreshingly human. No corporate scripts, just actual conversation. The location means you’ll hear some street noise – it’s a living neighborhood, not a museum – but it dies down pretty reasonably at night. I’d definitely stay here again, especially since you’re walking distance from basically everything that matters in Bologna, but you still get to experience the city like someone who actually lives there rather than just passing through.

  This is my second time staying at 051 Rooms and Breakfast because the location is fantastic, the rooms are comfortable, and everyone was so kind. We had more than everything we needed!
  
  What could be improved: Bologna was quite hot and the air conditioner was doing its best- we were also given a fan in the room- and we needed it. But with the fan it was lovely- they had thought of everything

  Very nice, chic, hotel, situated at the heart of the city, literally two steps away from the two famous Towers. Friendly, helpful staff, great breakfast with freshly baked cornetos.

  The location is just perfect.
  But that's not all: The staff is so nice and helpfull – Alessia is the best host!
  The room is perfect, spacious, super clean, the bed is so confortable!
  They provide free coffee/tea/biscuits during all day.
  The breakfast is very nice!

  The welcome from Laura was so friendly every staff member we met was so friendly and welcoming – the room was large and airy and dark at night time! The location next to the tower and a little stroll for lunch and dinner just PERFECT – 1/2 hour walk to/from the railway station and the terrifying Marconi Express to the airport!

  Everything exceeded our expectations. The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful, even assisting us with booking a taxi for our early morning flight. The room was exceptional—well-equipped, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. The hosts even managed to prepare us small breakfast packages due to our early flight. I would highly recommend this place and would gladly stay here on all my future visits to Bologna.
