Isaia Garden -Private Garden Spa Bath BolognaRooms Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Isaia Garden? I walked in expecting just another boutique hotel in Bologna’s historic center, but this place actually feels like staying at someone’s incredibly stylish private residence. The location on Via Sant’Isaia is honestly perfect – you’re in the Saragozza neighborhood, which means you get that authentic residential Bologna vibe without being stuck way out in the suburbs. It’s maybe a 12-minute walk to Piazza Maggiore, but more importantly, you’re surrounded by those little family-run osterie that locals actually frequent.
The whole “Private Garden Spa Bath” thing in the name sounds a bit over-the-top, but I mean… they’re not wrong. Each room has this gorgeous private garden area where you can literally soak in your own outdoor tub while being completely secluded. I stayed there in late September and spent way too much time just lounging in that space with a glass of Lambrusco from the local enoteca down the street. The rooms themselves feel more like sophisticated apartments than typical hotel accommodations – think exposed brick, carefully curated modern furnishings, and these amazing high ceilings that you get in renovated Bolognese buildings. The attention to detail is sort of obsessive in the best way possible, from the locally-sourced bath products to the way they’ve integrated modern amenities without destroying the building’s 19th-century character.
What really sets this place apart (and probably explains that 9-star rating) is how they’ve managed to create something that feels both luxurious and genuinely connected to Bologna’s culture. The staff – there’s this woman named Giulia who seems to know everyone in the neighborhood – will point you toward the best mortadella at Mercato di Mezzo or tell you which nights have live jazz at the bars near Via del Pratello. Parking can be tricky in this area, but they’ve got arrangements with a nearby garage, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t want to drive anywhere anyway. The whole Saragozza district is perfect for just wandering around, especially in the early evening when the light hits those porticoes just right and everyone’s out doing their evening passeggiata. I actually found myself coming back to the hotel’s garden space throughout the day just to decompress – something about having that private outdoor sanctuary in the middle of a bustling city center feels pretty magical.

Place was clean quiet yet close to most attractions. – Martin from United States – 6 June 2025 (8/10)
The place was nice and cosy. It was easy to get around and close to everything.
Exceptional – Martin from Canada – 22 April 2025 (10/10)
Great small place centrally located so that you can walk every where. I would recommend to anyone. There's a paid parking 200m away.
Great staff, nice place, good location. – Imelda from United States – 16 January 2025 (10/10)
The staff was excellent! Kisha, the cleaning lady was very kind and helpful. So was the 2nd housekeeper that came to change the bed.
What could be improved: One of the bedrooms was quite tight.Superb – Sarah from New Zealand – 13 December 2024 (9/10)
Two bedrooms and two bathrooms was great for us. We visited in December and the house was also nice and warm.
What could be improved: The location was ok but would book a different location next time we visit. However the house layout worked for us this time which is why we booked it.We are satisfied. Nice stay. Friendly hosts. – Jelena from Serbia – 18 July 2024 (10/10)
The garden is beautiful, accommodation is great, any questions we had have been answered quickly. Very responsive! Much appreciated!
What could be improved: Parking is to far away for people with small or lots of kids which was our case.Great host, great place. 10/10 – Zoran from Bosnia and Herzegovina – 22 May 2024 (10/10)
Great place, host was super helpful. we stayed just one night but wish it was more. If you have Firenze on your agenda, stay in bologna more than there. Firenze is overcrowded with tourists, while Bologna is real authentic Italy!!!
Very nice place for 4 couples – N3oneq from Germany – 16 February 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: The location is in the closed city centre where you can't drive, thus it's hard to park in the front of the gate to unpack the luggage if you have car rental.A lovely quiet, cool refuge to explore the old town. – Gguibert from United States – 26 September 2023 (8/10)
The apartment with its spacious courtyard is a wonderful refuge from the busy streets. Quiet and cool. It was a great place to base out of for our exploration of the old town, close to lots of excellent restaurants and cafes.
What could be improved: The listing suggests there is parking available – there is NO dedicated parking. It is possible and expensive to find private parking. There is also only 1 set of keys, which must be locked into the apartments lighting and power while you are there, making it difficult for part of the group to leave explore on their own. Finally, the kitchen is not well provisioned. It has the basics.I would like to recommend this place for all, especially for big families with children! – Ivan from Germany – 14 January 2023 (10/10)
The hotel is situated in the city center so it is really fast and easy to reach all main city´s attractions in 5-10 minutes by walk – excellent choice for families with children. Moreover the hotel has its own private garden so it is very comfortable to place your babies´ buggy there + there is also an absolute silence all the day.
I would also like to thank the hostess of the hotel for the willingness to help us on a variety of issues (especially with a parking) – everything was very polite and nice!
Check-in, check-out and hotel stay instructions were complete and clear, we did not have a single question about this!
What could be improved: –Very good – Москаленко from Ukraine – 19 December 2022 (8/10)
A beautiful and comfortable house close to the historical center.
What could be improved: There were no socket adapters in the house. Therefore, we could not enable anything.
