Casa Lucia 5th Floor Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Casa Lucia? The fact that it’s on the 5th floor of this classic Bolognese building on Via Pellegrino Tibaldi – I mean, you’re literally staying in what feels like someone’s elegant apartment, and honestly, that’s exactly the charm. The street itself is this quiet residential stretch that most tourists never stumble onto, maybe a 12-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore if you cut through the side streets (which you should, because the main drag gets pretty crowded). When I first walked up – and yes, there’s an elevator, thank god – I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the moment you step inside, it’s like this perfect blend of traditional Bologna character with actually thoughtful modern touches.
The rooms have these gorgeous high ceilings and original hardwood floors that creak just enough to remind you you’re in a historic building, but not so much that you’re annoying your neighbors. What really struck me was how quiet it stays, even though you’re still properly in the city – I think it’s because Via Tibaldi doesn’t get much through traffic, mostly just locals heading to the little alimentari around the corner or the pharmacy that’s been there forever. The owner clearly knows what they’re doing; everything feels intentional, from the way the morning light hits the windows to the fact that they’ve got proper blackout curtains (seriously underrated when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag). I stayed there in late September, and while Bologna was still pretty warm during the day, the evenings had that perfect crispness, and you could actually open the windows without worrying about street noise.
Here’s what I’d tell anyone considering it – this isn’t your standard hotel experience where everything’s perfectly uniform and slightly soulless. Casa Lucia feels more like staying with a really well-organized friend who happens to live in one of Bologna’s most authentic neighborhoods. You’re close enough to walk to the university area (which gets lively in the evenings), but far enough that you’re not dealing with student party noise. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s those little things like actually good water pressure, thoughtful lighting, and the fact that they seem to genuinely care about the details that matter when you’re trying to feel at home somewhere new. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the building has this particular old-Bologna smell – not musty, just that distinct scent of aged wood and stone that you only get in these centuries-old places. If you’re the type who wants to experience Bologna like you actually live there, rather than just hitting the tourist highlights, this is your spot.

Reviews of Casa Lucia 5th Floor
Super clean comfy stay in central Bologna – Gradyn from United Kingdom – 21 June 2025 (10/10)
Spotlessly clean
Comfortable beds
Nice balcony
Good showers if a little cramped
Well equipped kitchen with tea coffee etc
Milk would have been a nice addition.
Prosecco in fridge and fruit/ biscuits a nice touch .
10 mins to central station .
What could be improved: Nothing not to like other than check in a bit fussy .
Not the easiest to negotiate.Very good – Alessandro from Italy – 19 June 2025 (8/10)
Casa moderna, pulita e spazi ampi, cortesia e super gestione dell'Host (accesso e check-in digitale semplicissimo). ci ritornerei!
Great apartment with nice, clean bedrooms and all you need for a short stay. – Rachel from China – 9 June 2025 (9/10)
The apartment was great, generously sized bedrooms with lots of light. A fully stocked kitchen to prepare breakfast. Location was good, a short walk to restaurants, public transportation, etc. We were there for work, so didn't really get to explore from the apt, but it was great nonetheless. Silvia, our host, was so fantastic. She answered messages very quickly and gave us a lot of useful information.
What could be improved: Just some small issues – maybe a space to put toiletries in the shower itself. Otherwise everything had to go on the floor of the shower. Also a couch or some place to sit other than the beds. But these are definitely not deal breakers.Soggiorno perfetto a Bologna – Alessandro from Italy – 12 May 2025 (10/10)
Struttura pulita ed organizzata. A mezzoretta di passeggiata da piazza Maggiore. La consiglio per un soggiorno a Bologna.
What could be improved: Tutto perfetto. Gruppo per team building – Paolo from Spain – 6 May 2025 (10/10)
Bella terrazza.
What could be improved: Una delle doccie presentava problemi (non era ben fissato).
Exceptional – Gioia from Italy – 8 April 2025 (10/10)
Consigliato! 💯✨
Una struttura piacevole, accogliente – Marco from Italy – 7 December 2024 (10/10)
Pulita, appena ristrutturata, ampia, luminosa
benissimo – Martina from Italy – 11 November 2024 (10/10)
What could be improved: Nulla.Exceptional – Ana from Romania – 8 November 2024 (10/10)
O curatenie exemplara!
What could be improved: Nu am de comentat
